In the interest of combating creeping fascism in the US, I'd like to remind folks to read (or re-read) our founding documents: primarily the US Constitution, but also the Declaration of Independence.

Here's a link to the Constitution: www.archives.gov/founding-doc...

Sooo today this pulled into one of the ports near my hometown. It's a bunch of shipping containers arranged to spell the word "Renee".

Something to remember while the news of Alex Pretti's murder is dominating the airwaves: there have been five other people killed during the latest "immigration"* crackdown. He's not the only one, just the most recent.

If this is the shit ICE is willing to do in public while the world watches, imagine what those fuckers do when there aren’t any cameras.

I mean, you really don't need the last five words in this sentence.
Today we will find out that Mike Johnson knows nothing about the shooting in MN.

Hey so on a tangent from going on about how there's no goddamn excuse for inaction during a social justice crisis, I'd like to remind folks of this lovely little gem published in the 40s by the US Office of Strategic Services.

Sent to me by BFF today. Tickled my nerd bone, sure; but the meat is in the comments underneath: you can't "go about your business" when there's a need to protest, because NPCs aren't heroes.

Watching the videos.

I'm fucking shaking. Can't even imagine what it's like for Minnesotans.

Don't. Look. Away.

The current US regime is inflicting violence across the nation; Minneapolis is the current hot spot. That will no doubt shift in time - or possibly expand (or explode). For folks nowhere near Minnesota but who want to help somehow, here are some resources: mspmag.com/arts-and-cul...
Ways to Support Minnesota’s Immigrant Communities as ICE Activity Escalates
Food drives, fundraisers, trainings, restaurant specials, and other resources to support immigrant communities during ICE's massive Operation Metro Surge.

Watching & reading & listening to reports of ICE agents shooting people on the streets & DHS justifying it with "they had a gun" & I can't help but think of Ashli Babbitt.

The hypocrisy is a feature, not a bug, to these fucking ghouls.

As we resist Trump’s tyranny, America gains solidarity.

As we gain solidarity, we feel more courageous.

As we feel courageous and stand up to Trump, we weaken him and his regime.

As we weaken Trump and his regime, we have less to fear.

Thinking about forgiveness today.

Dunno why, it's just what my brain has latched onto, for reasons unknown.

I think the concept of forgiveness has been pretty twisted up, & it isn't really what ppl commonly think it is.

FYI: Dems in the senate can't defund ICE. ICE is funded by the Big Ugly Bill. Shutting down DHS on this vote wouldn't touch ICE, but it would shut down FEMA, TSA, Coast Guard, etc. Shutting down ICE requires taking back Congress in the midterms. Dismantling DHS requires the White House in 2028.

"Van Helsing" was one stinker of a film but Richard Roxburgh was the absolute best thing about it.

Dude chewed every single scene he was in to tiny little shreds with his fake vampire fangs. Ham salad, all the way.

TIL that folks in this town set off fireworks whenever the local football team wins a game.

Not, like, they put together an actual fireworks show or anything - people just randomly set off a bunch of illegal fireworks in a citywide celebration.

I'm watching a relationship between two friends end in real time. It's sad to see. And I absolutely, 100% get why it's happening: one of them lives with a chronic, lifelong, life-threatening medical condition. & they've used the other as an emotional punching bag for years.
January 15, 2026 at 9:20 PM
Ever told someone about some sexist or racist or otherwise bigoted remark from an older relative or random Boomer in the shops or something, & they tell you to cut 'em some slack because "it was the times" or "it's a generational thing"?

PSA: that's bullshit. & here's how I know: my grandpa.

The murder of Renee Good feels like a line crossed. It's different but not.

It's an extrajudicial killing of a person by an LEO, which has been happening for a long time; that part isn't new or different. LEOs get away with all kinds of violent shit all the goddamn time.

On a short trip out of town. We're relaxing in the hotel room & watching "Bohemian Rhapsody" on the telly. & we're at the point where Freddie gets confirmation of his HIV diagnosis.

& what it makes me remember is the AIDS crisis of the early 1980s.
