Mentoring is all about finding your own path, with someone by your side to guide you

📊 SEND Tribunals

21,000 appeals last year—a 55% increase. 95% ruled in favour of parents. 💔 Families like mine fight for the basics while LAs spend millions defending refusals.

We were told “no evidence of plan-do-review” despite clear reports. How is this right?

💡 What’s your experience?

Could have written something like this myself - for me it happened twice, with autism diagnosed in my 40s, and ADHD in my 50s. Means that I bring a long perspective and lived experience to my role with Inclusive Outsource. (Jax)
“At 71, she learned she had ‘severe ADHD’, and finally began to accept herself.”
“There’s an empowerment that comes with diagnosis,” she says. “And confidence. Maybe I’m not as awful as I thought I was.”

How is everyone doing with the run up to all change season? I feel like there's something major I've forgotten to do, but with so much on, that could be anything! (Jax)

Hugs, soft toys, weighted blankets, or a pet’s snuggle all boost oxytocin, the “comfort hormone."

For neurodivergent people, oxytocin-filled moments are important for managing sensory overwhelm and emotional regulation.

What’s your oxytocin booster? Share below! (Mel)

This is such an excellent thread about one late diagnosed adult's experience of recognising they were autistic, and going through the diagnostic process. For the people thinking it's a tickbox exercise, this debunks that thoroughly. (Jax)

If you’re wondering if you might be Autistic but ruling it out because some of the diagnostic criteria don’t apply read on.
Initially Autism wasn’t considered a likely explanation for my difficulties because I was married, employed, seemed to cope with change, and had social skills.

Keeping on keeping on - it's a tough time of year for a lot of neurodivergent people. What are your top tips for making it through the festive period? This year, we're looking to do Christmas out of this house, meaning we can come home to recharge. (Jax)

Did you know pets have incredible benefits for neurodivergent individuals? From reducing anxiety & providing sensory comfort to being a loyal companion, pets can make a big difference in mental wellbeing

What’s your fav thing about spending time with pets? Let’s share some feelgood stories! 🐶 (Mel)

My thought today is that I don't want to be doing the autism = neurodivergency thing, I'm very aware that is much more living under the umbrella than autism alone. I don't know enough about #dysgraphia #dyspraxia #dyslexia - who should I follow to learn more? (Jax)
December 9, 2024 at 5:41 PM
Hello Bluesky! We'd like to find people who are active as advocates in neurodivergent communities, people who are building inclusive educational offerings, and people who might need our offerings. Who do you recommend we follow? Posts will be from Mel or Jax and will be signed (while I remember Jax)
