"Even for New Jersey, known for in-your-face politics and aggressive confrontations, the state Senate hearing December 1 on a bill curbing oversight by state watchdog agencies was over the top."

I like how Scutari is on the edge of the picture acting all ominously like what’cha gonna do, be MORE anti-open government
As Attorney General Matt Platkin, Senator Andy Kim, and acting Comptroller Kevin Walsh spoke this morning against a bill that would gut the comptroller’s office and expand a different oversight agency, Senate President Nick Scutari, the author of the bill, came to watch

The first hearing on this bill is Monday.

Introduced 2 days before Thanksgiving, insuring a small audience. Forces stakeholders who disagree to prepare over a major family holiday weekend.

Scutari did not have to do it this way. He chose to.
Posting from X. Sen. Scutari has led a broad and successful campaign against transparency efforts in NJ for the last several years.

Heads up, New Jersey!
Before these proposals advance further, it’s important that people understand what they do and how they could shape the incoming administration’s ability to govern. Now is the right moment to pay attention, not after the votes are cast.

New Jersey politics is almost uniformly pro-corruption because even the people who aren't personally doing corruption spend their free time schmoozing with people for whom public corruption is their livelihood, and so things like public records requests and watchdog agencies are just so burdensome
