Six of the 12 tracks are written Strummer-Jones. Despite the lineup, Foley’s work is better recognized for her collaboration with Meatloaf on “Bat Out of Hell.” Singer Karla DeVito lip-synched Foley on the video for “Paradise By the Dashboard Light.”
St. Louis native Ellen Foley was in a relationship with the Clash’s Mick Jones, who produced the album. That relationship was the inspiration for “Should I Stay or Should I Go?” After the Clash wrapped up “Sandinista!,” the band, musicians and engineers turned their attention to “Spirit.”

Great hand-drawn lyric sheet. I’m guessing it’s by bassist Audrey Shaw who is credited with the cover illustration.

Nothing left to do today but take a nap.
Seems appropriate today. Also, the cat with the cleaver, Daryl Wilson, is an ER doc when not burning down stages. Punk AF.

Still has the DIY insert and what appears to be a letter ordering this record and some others. So, thanks to Phil Lollar for buying this LP, taking exquisite care of it and putting it back out into the world for me.

While checking in my #NowSpinning … Gwen jumped in to DJ a little Samhain. She’s less than a year old, but she knows this month is her black cat magic “Super Bowl.”

He was a different creature on those two occasions, but I’m glad I got to see him in both. He was a freak, a punk, a poet of the highest order, and his words and voice ringing in my head nearly every damned day. ☘️
Wow. Somehow, that makes me feel better about going down early. I didn’t realize there was an insurgency. Heheh. I do remember Shane coming out, looking scared to absolute death. I saw him again in 2023? At the Congress with the Pogues.
Snagged this magnificent bastard off the ground on the way out to the parking lot. Prized trophy from an amazing day.
