One of the most valuable skills you can have as a professional creative, is an ability to tolerate the discomfort of being unhappy with your work. You make your work, you probably see all the flaws and you either despair or move on and do better. There’s really no shortcut around that reality.

Howl's Flying Castle Cross Section

A cross section of howl's moving castle from the end of the movie where it grows wings. At the top an empty parapet holds a telescope and howl and sophie kiss on the balcony below it. Drying laundry is tied to the balcony and billows in the wind. Lower down, in a far bathroom, a mischievous star spirit breaks a shower head, causing a flood that moves throughout the rest of the image. In maximalist (but clean thanks to sophie's sensibilities) master bedroom, a magic broom and duster work. In a nursey, Sophie's mother and sister visit with gifts for the new baby but are surprised by another star spirit zooming around. In the courtyard, calcifer in his fireplace points worriedly at the river of bathroom water flowing through the grass. Markl and Heen the dog panic. The witch of the waste is unbothered, moisturized, in her lane, flourishing with a good book and a glass of lemonade. Lower down, the river of shower water careens off a balcony and into open sky. Prince Justin looks up in confusion from a lower balcony. In the foyer, madam Suliman and her two boy servants arrive with a gift, and are also surprised by a star spirit. In the bottom level of the castle, strange machines chug on and magic circles glow.
