Today I saw an Idaho Commission for Libraries training video (2021). It advocated for intellectual freedom & the fight against censorship.

Thanks to Idaho law, now minors can’t even browse any books except in the children’s section (unless a parent signs an affidavit).

Time to update that video :/

I was diagnosed with HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died but I was told, with the new drugs available, I could expect to live another 20 years.
That was 27 years ago.

Honour those we lost.
Celebrate that we can now treat and prevent HIV.
Make HIV stigma history.

Me aged 30. I was in LA and dressed up to go to a posh do (hired tux). My hair is slicked back and, in black and white under bright Californian sun, my skin looks impeccable. I’m looking directly into the camera with a closed mouth smile. I look like a movie star. Selfie. I’ve got very freshly cut hair and I’m looking directly at the camera with a similar smile. I’m wearing a vest. My lines are deeper, my eyes heavier, but I’m still in pretty good shape for a 57 year old.

Not a big fan of most holidays, tbh. There’s a performative aspect that’s never really made sense or appealed to me.

I also just think we should eat pie when we want pie and give gifts year round, whenever we see something that would make someone we love happy.

(Probably the autism though, lol.)

I work at a library, and we offer so much more than books. Patrons have access to: 3D printers, a soundproof recording studio, Cricut machines, thousands of DVDs, board games, Legos, and free classes on writing, finances, ESL, book making, etc. Check out your public library, you might be surprised!
