This is in very stark contrast to *bad* soulslikes where it's pixel perfect parry or go home because fuck you, the game hates you and thinks you should die.

Elden Ring is the best example. Don't want to learn how to counter/parry? Entire classes don't engage with that. Want to have a buddy? We can provide. Want to skip bosses altogether? Many are optional. You don't have to optimize because the game recognizes *it may not be fun*.

There's one thing that's really interesting here: the quintessential git gud hardcore game, aka Fromsoft's Souls games (including Elden Ring) are all finely tuned so that you can thrive in them by playing in suboptimal or "lazy" ways. Every single one of them (except Sekiro).

Now to be completely fair, a widespread use of laser propulsion system means that local authorities, including non-state actors -- like say, pirates that are doing early nationbuilding -- may have access to a powerful "shore battery" with a bit of tuning. Which is interesting!

Another thing: I think a lot of people conflate warrior cultures and having martial elements in one's culture. You *can* have cool ceremonial swords and titles without feeling obliged to reclaim or twee-ify warrior classes and imperialism. These concepts can be orthogonal.

I've been arguing for *months* now with some people that if you have Expanse levels of delta-v, shaving some of it for cool liveries literally does not matter. Airlines do not scrape off the paint from their planes just to gain a few tens of kph at 10,000 feet, its not WW2 anymore.

It's a tight rope to walk but there may be room for a more biting version of this: warrior culture that tries to "over-correct" its perceived faults, but never adresses the underlying imperialism, so all the therapy speak and land acknowledgements just ring hollow.

A much more funny way to do this is a steel alloy with specific properties (pick some to your liking) because it uses additives from a specific planet or asteroid. (I like to imagine future nerds rambling about traditional Martial steel knives)

Oui, le chef mongol est montré comme intelligent et capable, mais ça reste globalement l'intelligence et la capacité d'un uruk-hai. Certes, c'est le contexte qui veut ça, mais dans ce cas...le choix de montrer l'invasion de Tsushima vue par un samouraï n'était peut-être pas si judicieux.

Ghost of Tsushima reste quand même un cas d'école de « hiérachisation » inconsciente (à mon avis) des cultures asiatiques par un studio occidental. La déférence du jeu face à une culture japonaise semi-fantasmée est omniprésente, mais les Mongols peuvent être des brutes sans visage, pas de souci.

On a *trois* familles prétendant à un hypothétique trône de France, dont le dernier passage au pouvoir a *au mieux* un siècle et demi, ces gens ne représentent rien, mais au final c'est tristement raccord avec le poids médiatique donné à un Eric Zemmour, par ex.
