New “Recording Projects Notes” paperback notebooks! They’re here! Looks beautiful. Lulu.com did such a great job at printing these.
The front cover of the“recording project notes“ notebook I created so that others can enjoy the set up that I’ve been using for years A picture of the back of the recording project book which has a red hue and darker tones to it, it has an ISBN number The inside pages which repeat themselves throughout the book: on the left side, you have a series of rows with several columns for track number, take number, information about the piece being recorded, and comments; the right side has general note information, information about the clients, information about the HARDWARE used, and a checkbox-to-do list for finishing up the project and getting paid In the beginning and end of the book, there are pages that are devoted to contact, Client, Musician, Info, so all of your information is in one place. I’ve used this system for years, and it really makes a difference, also takes a lot of stress out of looking for various bits and pieces of information, especially when a deadline looms quickly ahead.

Slowly getting these fingers and hands back in working order. It’s been a large mountain to climb. I can improvise just fine, but replaying others’ works requires a different level of focus and physicality that had been somewhat jeopardized by psoriatic arthritis. I will beat this. I must. I am.

Adding a drum track to Schönberg works, makes the music more accessible. This is true, I did an experiment with a class where I played a track of rather avant-garde electronic sounds, they hated it. Few weeks later, same track with a drum track: they loved it. rcarl.substack.com/p/the-postmo...

Remembering my sweet darling Mother who passed as I held her hand 21 years ago. So far away now…it feels like a different galaxy…

The initial passport picture when my mother escaped from Hungary, spent some time in France, and then made her way over to the United States with my two sisters. I didn’t exist yet. My mother and I bonding in a special moment, I must’ve been four or five years old as she holds me in her arms, and we look at each other One of the few pictures, my mother approved of, she was truly beautiful, but also very critical of her appearance

At age 60, I decided to finally take the summers off as a teacher. We know teacher pay sucks. Several large expenses (Hamden property tax ripoff I’m looking at you) zeroed out my bank account! And, of course, September paychecks don’t come in till later. So learning how to navigate this, still. 🤦‍♂️⛈️😬

Just finished teaching the first “Adult Advanced Piano Performance Class” of the fall semester, and it had a rousing start with Joplin’s Maple Leaf Rag, Bach D Major Partita, and Franck’s giant “Prélude, Chorale, and Fugue”. The performer was so into it, they were overwhelmed with emotion after! ❤️🥂

Gah, I get these annoying dreams right before each academic year starts (not nightmares, just stupid annoying dreams I awake from, saying “well THAT was stupid”). Obviously my brain is done with teaching, does not want to go back after summer. But, have to pay the bills till I’m dead. What a country

Ziggy is really not sure what to think, now. Ziggy the white cat, looking somewhat forlorn... My computer workstation with various controllers, knobs buttons synthesizer, as well as two big monitors. On the left, we have the musical score for “in C”, on the right is the Ableton Live file in which I played the part of 16 performers, each part is color-coded as a column, with 53 measures being represented. It’s quite colorful, and it’s pride month, so why not?
