U’lea went through the kitchen and headed for the pantry. He opened the door without knocking. “Lucanis, do you—oh.” Lucanis had his back turned to the door as he was packing away his knives into a bag on his bed. “Are you going somewhere?” U'lea asked. “A contract.” Lucanis replied without turning around. “Caterina ordered me to fulfill my cousin's contract, now that Illario is… locked up and can't do it himself. House Dellamorte never abandons a contract.” U’lea closed the distance between them and reached for Lucanis. “But—” “It shouldn't take long. Find the target, take them out and head back.” U’lea placed his hand on his shoulder, and Lucanis turned around, meeting his eyes. “I will be back.” “I know you will, but…” U'lea smiled weakly. take me with you?” “U’lea—” Lucanis sighed. “Defeating Illario was one thing, but you're no assassin.” “I'll just follow your lead! I'll be as quiet as a mouse and follow you like I'm your shadow, I promise!” Lucanis looked at his wide eyes, full of excitement, and sighed. “Why can I never say no to you?” U'lea grinned and tilted his head. “Because I'm cute and you love me?” Lucanis smiled. “I do love you.” He leaned in and placed a chaste kiss on his lips. “And you are cute. Handsome too.” “Ooo, two for one!” U’lea’s grin grew wider. “I'll go pack.” He stepped backwards towards the door, not taking his eyes off Lucanis and almost tripping over the bag of coffee beans on the floor. “Please look at where you're walking, at least.” “Yeah, yeah!” U'lea yelled after him as he turned to leave the room in a hurry. “Mierda…” Lucanis whispered to himself and he resumed tucking in his knives.
