So excited that my translation of THE INTERPRETER by Olivia Abtahi, published by Kokila / PRH, has been selected as one of the 14 Best Children's Books of the Year in Spanish by the @bankstreet.edu (Children's Book Committee at Bank Street College of Education).
I teach this age group in Sunday School. Taught 5-7 year olds as a bilingual teacher for close to 2 decades. This is beyond monstrous. I NEVER again want to hear ‘Save the Children’ from those who support La migra. NEVER

Are those who support these monsters. The racism is on full view. It’s never been about criminals. I’ve worked in their communities for close to 2 decades. These are hand working ppl. I’ll never forgive those who either voted or didn’t vote for this regime

During that time my then first graders and their family shared stories of the migra hiding to ambush families and detain/deport them. Now these agents aren’t hiding but kidnapping in broad view and worse. The brutality and cruelty is the point. It infuriates and sickens me so much Worse? 2/3

Seeing pictures of La migra kidnapping a 5 yr old to use as bait brought up memories of being a bilingual teacher in middle school 90s in L.A. elementary school during CA English Only ballot & my first graders asking me if I’d let La migra take them from classroom 1/2
