I'm taking a 400-page hardcover book by mystery novelist James Patterson and, with gallons of white-out, transforming it into a book of stand-alone erasure poems. Currently 130 pages into the project, which you can follow/support here: www.patreon.com/collection/6... #booksky #books #poetry #erasure

“The earth makes a sound as of sighs and the last drops fall from the emptied cloudless sky. A small boy, stretching out his hands and looking up at the blue sky, asked his mother how such a thing was possible. Fuck off, she said.”

―from ‘The End’ by Samuel Beckett
an erasure #poem:

I'm sad
I need to explore good souls
no doubt I’ll take the nitty-gritty
the bottom other two at the so low
our own in parallel
made mistakes? big ones

I really enjoyed this essay, Aisling. I've been wanting to revisit the entire series of books, and this is the nudge/shove I needed.

I read a lot of news stories that are some version of "a pedestrian was hit and killed; the driver was not hurt". My reaction is always "well, no shit".

We need to design our infrastructure to better protect people outside the car.
Thank you for sharing this, Robert
“If you were to visit [the moon], you might experience conflicting feelings of deprivation and overwhelm….You would feel lonely, hot, freezing, terrified, ecstatic, superhuman, and tiny, in a matter of moments or maybe all at once.”

Billions of dollars pumped into one Latin American nation, gunboats deployed off the coast of another—it all brings to mind a 1918 anglophone poem by Nicaragua’s Salomón de la Selva (1893-1959), with whom Millay, by the way, “had gone back and forth all night on the ferry.”

This beautiful little poem by Doireann Ní Ghríofa plays cleverly with English and Irish, how words shift in meaning and emotional resonance

Wayang kulit is Indonesia’s traditional shadow puppet theater. The term comes from Javanese words for "performance" and "skin", referring to the leather puppets. 🧵⬇️ (1/5)

It sounds like a horror story.

Capgras delusion is a real but rare psychiatric syndrome in which a person believes a loved one has been replaced by an identical impostor. First described in 1923, it is linked to psychosis, dementia, and brain injuries.
