Yes, that's correct! Each bole is sprout of the same tree; there can be many acres of aspens which are actually the same tree. I'm pretty sure that by mass these are the largest organisms on the planet.

I’m excited to have come first place in the Woodlands category in the @natural-landscapes.bsky.social awards with this photo ‘Remnant of time’.

In early September we had to retreat unexpectedly from a backpack trip in the #WindRiverRange of #Wyoming due to #wildfire smoke from the nearby #DollarLakeFire.
