The video mentioned here and this one really do give some insight as to why remakes have their own integrity and deserve to be remembered without the need to replace their originals. The posting of GVG’s video and the comments on here reminded me of this one.

That video was a really good look back through how many forms video games and any mandatory accessories cost back during other times, which I think is always important to consider when talking about how expensive the hobby can be.

There are some valid criticisms to be made against the direction some remakes go in and how studios have treated them as a trend. However, it is susceptible to the same traps as any other discourse.

From what I heard, P3 Reload added a lot of improvements (some of which the original release could have had but didn’t) but the P4 remake was definitely announced way too early.
