Steely Dan's Katy Lied was released in 1975 which means this marks the 50th anniversary of someone deciding to play "Black Friday" the day after Thanksgiving

Watched Bladerunner again last night. Would have been so much better if they had gone with the original idea, that instead of origami unicorns, Edward James Olmos’ character had made balloon animals.

To temper my Black Friday spending, one of my credit cards sent me a bill from last month. Also two utilities alerted me that my current statements are available.

A lot of Christmas songs are actually just winter songs. (Ex. “Winter Wonderland”) In the southern hemisphere Christmas falls during summer. So by extension, any summer song should also be a Christmas song. My Christmas playlist is going to be radically different

How long after Thanksgiving dinner do you wait to play Merry Christmas from the Family (Robert Earl Keen) and Fairy Tale of New York (The Pogues and Kirsty MacColl)?

One year there was a helium shortage and they didn't have enough for the balloons for the parade. So they filled some smaller balloons with air and had cranes lift them and carry them along the parade route

BTW, did you know we get "dumpster" from the Dempster-Dumpster system of loading garbage trucks by using a standardized trash receptacle? Patented by the Dempster Brothers in 1935. Another example of trademark becoming generic

How has "Trumpster Fire" to describe a chaotic, destructive trend or event not become a thing?

Bought gloves on sale from the company in Maine. Now that it's cold out, I decided to give them a whirl. I found out that they have straps with wristbands so you can take the gloves off and not have to worry about losing them. It does make me feel like a child with my mittens clipped to my cuffs

The nice thing about living in a northern clime is that you can say bad things about ice and if someone gets upset about that, just explain you were talking about the frozen water on the sidewalks

What I find distressing is the present trend to ban people/postings/items from websites with no reason given and no way to appeal. Often I think companies give the ban hammer to AI and then don't want to deal with the potential damage that causes
