Today, a weird reaction from the cow. I played Shostakovich and the cow moved its mouth like it was singing and when it stopped playing, he licked the camera to try and play it again. Switched to Strauss and they left.

The baby wash is 1/4 mile long. These cows like to use it to get around. They are not my cows. I play Debussy, Claire De Lune and at that point they stop and listen to the speaker playing it and eventually move on.

If 3 more months of chemo, after that who knows. They will not say. His chances of five years of life are 15% he has fought hard through one and a half already. Today, he innocently said, I want to work at the grocery store. It is so hard to walk this path knowing there is nothing I can do.

Today, my son had a batch of chemo. Two more of these before they decide on the next 3 months. New CT scan next week. I’m kind of sick of hearing the string along evasions of maybe we keep going maybe not. He felt pretty good today, by Thursday, that could change. He really needs mercy.

Unfazed, new visitors. Since I did not have time to add the hardware cloth on the last visit, I have this little party happening. alarm blasts… at least they will leave behind some manure for the trouble.

The vast majority of our trees are from seed, there are a few vendors in the state that we can use to get a head start in for planting. 2026 planting season is going to be native for 87% of our planting but a few special trees for special people and circumstances will flesh out the rest.

Behind the scenes: Inoculation of soil protects our seeds from nematodes, fungal disease, and other nastiness. So planting trees requires more effort than any state. Arizona has some of the strictest rules for agriculture, which is a good thing. We certify, quarantine, seal, and tag our trees.

I have new settings on the cameras. The alarms have gone off and it appears the winds are cranking. 35mph gusts.

Our invitation cards, placed in areas where people are alone with their thoughts. As people discover them and scan, they are taken to the dedication page. This capsule represents living witness trees to a growing forest. A way to protect the earth while honoring lives lost.

This tiny time capsule will be planted at Jackson Earth on an area we call, Jelani’s corner. Jelani was 15 when he passed from a rare kidney cancer. Elizabeth and Tiffany are the two latest trees to be added to Jelani’s corner, where the trees will act as living witnesses to the growing forest.
