Completely agree. Our scurrilous press keep gunning for women from a working class background having contributed to a culture of mendacity and forgiveness when it comes to wealthy privileged Tory men. Just look what Johnson got away with for years…
I’m 100% with Warren. It is ridiculous. Reeves gets told to resign for £945 mistake her letting agent should have sorted whilst Farrage can avoid telling us who bought his £900,000 house. Double standards. Not good enough
If ANYTHING happens to Rachel Reeves over this letting agent stuff, then I will call for the entire scrapping of the ministerial code & the independent advisor.

The Tories essentially didn't abide by anything and I no longer care about requiring Labour prove to be more above board than others.

Happy Thursday street photographers
Two of the worst elements of our society - gutter journalism and exploitative gambling - united in a murky cause
Tax them into the ground
It’s getting out of control in our city and any complaint is met with spectacular whataboutery by the offenders

*Nothing* should be on pavements other than pedestrians and mobility aids

And again some more red sail magic from this summer…
I’m far to be done with the Greenland folders, so except more red sails & ice images 😅.

Minority representation on TV causes outrage

From the new Private Eye, in shops now.
In their minds maybe but it wasn’t in any way a valid reason. It was an outrage.
No. There was no susceptibility if you were ‘openly gay’. Don’t make excuses for them. Pure discrimination.
That might be where the thread started
I console myself with the thought that my inability to work for people whom I don’t respect, along with my disdain for bureaucracy, probably would have made my career there short lived 😂

Their loss in any event
Same day

Just around the corner
And another

My cup ran over that day
Back to the photos; another from the same shoot

On the one hand it's good to be able to see them and call them out; on the other they are emboldened and feel able to say what they want without sanction.

Freedom of speech, of course, but not without social consequences. And hate speech is exempt. Punish them.

There was a time when we couldn't read each others' minds. There was a filter for most, driven by what is socially acceptable. We had rancid racists, plenty of them, but the worst thoughts were private.
Now there is no filter; rancid racists think into social med posts and apply no self-censorship
There was a time when the rancid racist in your street would keep their opinions to themselves as they knew it was unacceptable. Now they can find other rancid racists vis social media and create a gang, virtually and irl.

Given the party's refusal to act on Pochin's brazen racism, it should be as socially unacceptable to vote for Reform as it was in the early 2000s to vote for the BNP.

And we should be prepared to say this to people's faces.

Tyne Bridge, 1977, photo by Graham Smith (b. 1947).
Also a reminder: this happened in many parts of Government:
I applied to the Foreign Office as a languages graduate and the info pack I received stated, in black and white, “homosexuality, admitted (sic) or not, is a bar to service in the FO”. This was 1987.
