Hands up (see what I did there!) who can see the woman's profile, facing left, that the handprint also suggests on the lovely @solveigpals.bsky.social's excellent book 'Harm'?! (tr. @graskeggur.bsky.social, publ @corylusbooks.bsky.social) Hmm, @pareidolia.bsky.social, what do you think?
Paperback of the book Harm by Sólveig Pálsdóttir, with á cover image of a handprint/shadow in snow/against icy glass. The outstretched fingertips also, possibly unintentionally, also suggest the eye, nose, mouth and chin of a woman in profile, looking to the left

Very interesting fact from the 'Lost In Translation' panel at #GraniteNoir: @teresasolanawriter.bsky.social revealed #FictionInTranslation in the UK is just 3% of books, but elsewhere in Europe 70% 😲 @jackycnoir64.bsky.social affirmed the importance of experiencing other cultures thru our reading 💙📚
Jacky Collins, aka Dr Noir, in brilliant conversation with Catalan author and translator Teresa Solana. The Lost in Translation panel obviously struck a chord with its totally engaged audience, as sales of the 3 authors present's books were the greatest of any event at that venue this year! It was also great to meet @vikingporridge.bsky.social, thanks to a shared appreciation of Dr Noir's skillful aplomb in her role of chair!

A game of secrets and lies. 'Bloody Orkney' is a fast-paced thriller set mainly in Orkney during World War Two. This tin cottage on the island of Hoy has an important part to play in the book.
Available in paperback, Kindle, Kobo or Apple. Find out more:
www.kenlussey.com/blork/index....
This modern image shows a tin cottage on the island of Hoy in Orkney. We are looking slightly downhill towards it over long grass. The cottage has green corrugated walls on a main section on the right with two white windows and a porch, and a smaller section on the left with two windows. The building is weatherbeaten, especially its red corrugated roof. There is water in the background and land in the distance. The front cover of ‘Bloody Orkney’ is shown in the bottom right corner.
