Bravery is contagious.
ICE observers in the Twin Cities suburbs say they fear being injured or killed, but are dedicated to being on the right side of history. They say working together has brought them community and connection. And they're seeing shifts in attitudes among their neighbors. www.mprnews.org/story/2026/0...
Pursued by federal agents, suburban ICE observers remain resolved
After a frightening pursuit by federal agents, suburban ICE observers say fear hasn’t stopped them from protecting their communities.

JUST IN: Democrats flip a red seat in the Texas Senate.

Taylor Rehmet wins against Leigh Wambsganss, a conservative activist who helped lead right-wing efforts to take over TX school boards.

With all early vote, and 95% of precincts, in, Dem up 57/43.

Trump won this seat by 17% in Tarrant County.

I'm laughing at myself reading some of the emails and thinking of how I would have reacted back then if someone were like "you should meet my friend Jeffrey".

"Who's he?", I would have asked.

"He's in real estate."

"I'm not interested in buying a house."

"No, he knows people."

"So do I."

My "don't make oligarch jokes" T-shirt is raising many questions already answered by my "the previous owner of my company fell off a window and all I got was this company, a boarding school for my kids mere steps from the KGB headquarters, and this T-shirt."

To expand on this: people only have as much power as you give them.

If you think they'll be able to violate court orders without consequence, and act like that's true, you are only making it easier for them to do so.

By forcing them to follow the rules at every step, you don't give them the power.
It is for this reason that it is essential to expect the administration's compliance with all lawful court orders.

To do anything less is to make noncompliance easier.

I think some of the people pushing AI should tell us why we don't fly supersonic airliners anymore.

Hace tiempo pensé en hacer una web de noticias tecnológicas de broma, pero con todo lo que está cayendo no sé de dónde sacaría el tiempo, así que en su lugar voy a ir pegando aquí algunas de las "noticias" que he ido recopilando.

The extended version of the GBBO theme song rocks quite hard, but there is a special place in my heart for the homage-to-Wendy Carlos synthesizer bit between timestamps 12:05 and 14:47.

I had a Fast Fourier Transform routine I was quite happy with, then this week I tweaked it and became a Faster Fourier Transform.

Nice what some loop unrolling and adding some extra code for the 4-point FFT will do.

And I think there's still plenty of speedup left in that, should I ever need it.

I've just published a new version of my web-based RTL-SDR library, www.npmjs.com/package/@jta...

It is now powered by my new DSP library, www.npmjs.com/package/@jta..., which has Tests and all those nice things, and you can use to demodulate signals from *any* source, not just RTL-SDR dongles!

If you want to increase your walkie talkie's range, connect two batteries in series to double their voltage. Since power goes up with the square of the voltage, your 5 watt Baofeng will have 20 watts!

"average blue sky user doesn't get jokes" factoid actualy just statistical error. average person gets 1 joke per joke. Earnest Georg, who thinks every post is for him & has 10,000 jokes go over his head every day, is an outlier and should not have been counted.

Today I saw a response to an NPR piece (about Maduro pleading not guilty) saying something like "if he was gonna do that, why did he even bother going to court" and I envy the world that person lives in.

"What was your biggest impact on the Internet?"

I wrote the JS code for Google+'s social widgets. At one point, "I" was on every Google property (including search) and on every webpage on the Internet that included a +1 button, an "add me to your circles" widget, etc.

So not a very lasting impact.
"what was your biggest impact on the internet?"

no contest, it's:
