It is tempting to see what‘s happening to the Post as a unique product of our time but “rich guy buys newspaper so he can steer it in more favorable direction” is a way more common occurrence in journalism history than “national newspaper develops reputation for solid, hard-hitting reporting”

Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. took steps on Thursday to make it easier for food makers to claim that they are not using artificial dyes in their products, so long as they use dyes that are not petroleum based.

I generally think that pretending we can put the AI genie back in the bottle is bad pedagogy but it became clear in the Claudine Gay discourse that there are some fields where the words you choose are part of what makes your work original and others where they are considered an annoying obstacle.
Humanities lag behind STEM in AI policy. They must catch up.

Most of the people who say their ancestors immigrated "the right way" are describing an era when you could basically just show up at the dock
I genuinely have no idea how to convey this to the American people, but I think the biggest impediment to any kind of immigration reform is that people are convinced that "legal" and "illegal" are immutable, intrinsic categories instead of a rapidly-shifting arbitrary constellation of regulations.
