Jackson Kowar was DFA’d by Twins on Thursday, now joins Orioles’ bullpen mix.

The 29-year-old RHP had a 4.24 ERA in 15 relief appearances for Mariners last season. Previously pitched for Royals from 2021-23.

On Trevor Rogers’ penultimate pitch (also a whiff), it sounded like Heston Kjerstad turned to Samuel Basallo and said how “nasty” Rogers’ stuff looked.

Nasty indeed. Impressive first live showing of camp for Rogers, who won’t be taking anybody by surprise this year.

Prospect battle in Orioles live BP: Samuel Basallo (O’s No. 1 per MLB Pipeline) vs. Nestor German (O’s No. 11)

German won the matchup, getting Basallo to whiff once and then to fly out to right field on the next pitch.

Zach Eflin has often talked about how much he loves playing for the Orioles, and he reiterated that this morning.

“The only place I wanted to play this year was here.”
Zach Eflin and Chris Bassitt are good friends, golf together and spend time together in the offseason.

Eflin said the first thing Bassitt texted him after the signing was: “Let’s go win a title.”

Eflin: “And I was like, ‘Dude, you’re gonna love it here.’”

A pitcher to keep an eye on this spring at Orioles camp: RHP Anthony Nunez.

24-year-old came over from Mets in Cedric Mullins trade, finished ‘25 at Triple-A Norfolk. Could appear on O’s updated Top 30 prospects list on MLB Pipeline later this year. Part of bullpen competition.
