ha! But remember, we collect the poop, not the urine - poop is a treasure trove!

It is the 110th anniversary of the murder of the labor organizer Joe Hill. The Salt Lake Tribune wrote about it.
Joan Baez sang about it at Woodstock in 1969.

Who was Joe Hill?
Joe Hill. The making of a martyr. Did Utah execute an innocent man by firing squad on Nov. 19, 1915? A century later, Joe Hill inspires artists and galvanizes activists.

and some fact-checker, somewhere, maybe in #seattle (because we have a few who work for @nytimes.com )
Some fact-checker made sure that ... it was double-checked.
#factchecking #facts
Here’s an example of journalistic dedication. My husband, @danfagin.bsky.social, wrote the butterfly story. To fact-check the rice grains analogy, he asked a rice scientist (yes, there are such a thing) to weigh a dozen grains so Dan could get the average weight of a single grain.

Careful. You may get more subscribers than you were planning on. #SciWri26
I just heard from two different people at #SciWri25 that next year's meeting is ... here? Corvallis?

That is wild. I'm not sure how some details of that will work, but I do look forward to running a makeshift science writer B&B out of my apartment for my out of town friends.

Wow. @jjmcdona.bsky.social of @factcheck.org says she doesn’t use the term #misinformation anymore bc it’s been politicized and become a trigger word. “It doesn’t mean anything anymore,” she said at #SciWri25. She now just says things are false or untrue.

Happy #suffrage celebration. #women
In 1909, Dr. Cora Smith Eaton climbed Mt. Rainier with a “Votes for Women” banner.

A year later, on November 8th, women in Washington state won the right to vote – the 5th state to do so, and 10 years before the 19th amendment.

The nail-bitimg math of Wilson challenge to Harrell. #Seattle #election
There are probably still more than 100,000 ballots out there. Wilson will have to get about 55 percent of those still-outstanding ballots (by my rough math) to make up the difference.
