New stuff is in development for the game! A new title screen and menu is being built out for the next major update. As there is a need for some features to do stuff -before- a save is opened now, the "logo boot" version of the game shows a fancy logo splash upon starting.

July 30th 2005. 20 years ago today, after spending 7 years in development, Sword of Jade was released!

Thank you to everyone who has ever played and reviewed and sent emails about the game over the years. It means a lot.

Huge thanks to @jamespaige.bsky.social for creating the OHRRPGCE engine too.

Thief, Acolyte, Consort by James Robert Paige

This is delightfully inventive, with unexpected moments and interpretations. One POV is a former con artist, and their assumptions are always fun. The religious aspects are great. And a wee bit of a heist.

Book Cover for Thief, Acolyte, Consort by James Robert Paige

A grand plaza in a city is filled with tables and decorated with bunting. A myriad of tiny people in bright colors sit and celebrate. The street is orange, the walls gold painted with green and turquoise, the palm trees brightly green.

As the brightly covered citizens walk up stairs, through a grand arch, they fall into shadow. On the other side, the city contues, with spots of color against the sandy walls. At the pinacle is a palace, faded brownish grey, with pale blue highlights, under the deepest shadow.

Far in the distance, high hills break up the desert.

It speaks of a split city, delight next to an ominous dread.
