The headline is half the story, he also said the climate crisis would likely cost more than moves to abate it - meaning net zero may have a cost but it’s outweighed by it’s savings. A sound investment is what most banks might call that.

Tax breaks have worked well for O’Leary and Ryanair - you can see why he would recommend them for the whole economy - but someone has to pay for them. The lack of VAT and fuel duty gifts nearly £20B a year from other tax payers to Britain’s airline industry.
