Finally got around to taking an army shot of the Sca Ité Revenants - really happy with how this has turned out. This is all the units so far - plenty still left to paint, but enough to see the theme coming together.

Photo of a Warhammer 40,000 army. The faction is Aeldari Craftworlds and there are about 40 infantry models, plus a larger war construct, a Wraithlord, displayed on a gaming board representing grey gravel, with some ramshackle ruins in the background.

All models are painted grey with black weapons and white accents which vary from squad to squad (e.g. cloaks, plumes, helmets, robes). Bladed weapons are a glowing pale turquoise. In addition, the left hand of all models (including the giant Wraithlord) are painted blood red, for the bloody hand of Khaine.

Army contains Guardians, Dire Avengers, Wraithblades, Maugan Ra, Dark Reapers, Howling Banshees, Striking Scorpions, Wraithguard, Wraithlord. It is led by a Farseer and a winged Autarch Wayleaper. The faction is Aeldari Craftworlds and the photo is focussed in on the two leaders, a Farseer and an Autarch Wayleaper - with other models out of focus behind or out of shot.

Both models are painted in grey armour with black weapons and pale grey robes. They both have bladed weapons in a glowing pale turquoise. In addition, they both have a blood red sash, and their left glove is also blood red, for the bloody hand of Khaine. Photo of a Warhammer 40,000 army. The faction is Aeldari Craftworlds and is zoomed in on a squad of 10 Guardians. They are clad all in monochrome grey armour and supported by a free-floating support weapon also in grey. The faction is Aeldari Craftworlds and the photo is focussed on a unit of Howling Banshees in the foreground with other models out of shot or blurred in the background.

The Banshees are agile, leaping close combat specialists clad in grey armour with glowing turquoise power swords and black pistols. They all have huge manes of blood red hair, and their left hands are blood red, for Bloody Handed Khaine.

I... I do not have red models, somehow.

Anyway, here's some Blood Angels from my son a few years back.
Five Warhammer models: a unit of Space Marine Intercessors from the 8th Edition starter box.

They are painted red, with the aquila on their chests picked out in gold. Their weapons are black and gunmetal.

That's excellent, Andy. 👍🐺

The "almost" in "almost no chance of loss" turned out to be doing a lot of heavy lifting.

Well colour me stunned - like, who could have predicted that?

Russ: "Can't fight the moonlight, b*tch".

Just been down to the local Warhammer store submit two Armies on Parade: the Krieg Veterans kill team and the most recent (and ghostly) parts of the Revenants from my homebrew craftworld.

So much fun being able to share these with folks in real life and talk about the hobby.

A photo of a small Warhammer army on a scenic board with terrain.

The army consists of a Farseer, a Spirit Seer, 10 Guardian Defenders, Maugan Ra and 5 Dark Reapers, 5 Wraithblades, 5 Wraithguard and one Wraithlord.

The whole army is painted in a range of greys, with white detailing providing accents. Bladed weapons have a blue/white glow - adding to the ghostly effect.

Standing out is the left hand of each miniature, painted a blood red for the bloody handed god Khaine. A photo of a Warhammer Kill Team unit on a scenic board with terrain in the background.

The unit is ten Death Korps of Krieg Veterans, wearing greatcoats and gas masks, carrying a diverse mixture of weapons and wargear. They all wear drab blue with brown details for leather gear and wooden rifle stocks, weathered with the thick dust of the desert sand on their bases, and with a bright flash of red on the collars if their great

Oh wow - that is magnificent. Absolutely love him.

I haven't fully thrown my heart over the tall dwarf robots in the Eavy Metal scheme, but in that metal/olive combo, they look brilliant. Nice job!
jameswildman.bsky.social
Aw, thanks man! I'm really happy with how the (almost) monochrome theme came together, so I really appreciate your comment.

"Beep boop" say the souls of my dead kin before they mess you up with glowing power weapons.
A photo of Warhammer miniatures against a glossy black background: a Wraith Lord and a unit of Wraith Blades.

The five Wraith Blades are robotic war-constructs, humanoid in shape but 9 or 10 feet tall, wielding glowing power axes and power shields. The Wraith Lord towers above them, bristling with weapons and holding a gigantic glowing power sword.

The constructs are a sombre grey colour with white heads and tabards, except for their left hand which is blood red, to honour Bloody Handed Khaine.

Test scheme for the Leagues of Votann.

Dark blue over a light blue with orange basing for contrast. Pretty happy with it - think this is a scheme I'm going to enjoy painting.
A photo of a Warhammer miniature.

The mini is one of the Kin of the Leagues of Votann - a stocky, short-statured humanoid (ok, "Space Dwarf"). They wear body armour with a fully enclosed dome-shaped helmet over a rugged jumpsuit with knee and elbow pads. The armour is dark blue with a luminous orange eye-slit. The jumpsuit is a paler grey-blue, with grey pads and brown gloves.

They are standing on a base of orange earth with a few tufts of scrubby grey grass.

Came here to say the same.

Although, if we move from crisps to sweets, Thousand Sons are Lemon Sherbets: hard on the outside, dusty on the inside, and still sour about it.

Ok, but I think those glasses are actually pretty popular. I've seen loads of them in my local party supplies and costume shop.
A screenshot from a magazine with the text "Mark Zuckerberg is making a major bet on the future. He's about to share it" captionning a photo of Zuckerberg.

He is wearing some derpy looking glasses which are presumably some kind of Meta smart glasses nonsense.

The image has been vastly improved by scrawling on a fake moustache so it looks like he's wearing the famous Groucho Marx disguise.

"Give way to the right" is a great little line - I sometimes find I get whiplash between smiling at your wordplay one moment, and then remembering the context and being flooded with rage the next.

Excellent work, as usual, Mr Bilston.

Ok, BLTan is incredible! 🤣🤣
jameswildman.bsky.social
That's absolutely smashing. Always love your work, Vincent.

Taken a break from the grey-on-grey Aeldari to take the Krieg kill team off the pile of shame after *checks notes* 4 years.

Painted in about 5 slightly different ways to see what would happen. I think the variation in results suits a veteran squad, and I'm pretty happy.

A squad of Warhammer models: a Death Korps of Krieg veteran squad. 10 soldiers in pale blue greatcoats and gas masks, with a flash of red at the collar (and, for the sergeant, the cuffs). They wield a variety of weapons - standard lasguns, special weapons, and some melee weapons including bayonets and a trench club. Their bases portray the pale cracked earth of a desert with scrubby green vegetation, and the dust cakes their uniforms and weapons (hopefully hiding the painter's lack of skill). I had a lot of fun with the pink accents in this chap. Especially the slightly suggestive pink Harlequin's... er, Kiss.
A Warhammer Miniature - an Aeldari Harlequin Solitaire. This lithe elfin figure wears a black robe accented with a pink sash, and horned mask (also pink) representing Slaanesh, the god of sensation and excess, and the Aeldari's doom.

They are leaping over a ruin, preparing to strike with their pink, foot long, blunted punch dagger the Harlequin's... <checks notes> Kiss. Side view of the same Warhammer Miniature.

Ooh - that is excellent! Has a fantastic sense of presence which the lightning really adds to.

I'm feeling an urge to finally get cracking on my own Kin.

I saw a post some time back about when you have things you need to do regularly, you can try to align them to ingrained habits you already have. The tea thing mostly works for me - making a round of tea is pretty much the first thing I do each day after I get up.
jameswildman.bsky.social
The two best are:

1. I put the pills in a days-of-the-week pill case - it's brightly coloured and lives by the mugs, so every time I make tea it's right there staring at me. And I can tell whether I've taken one by whether today's pod is empty.

2. I married someone far more organised than me.

Fun fact: you can request a prescription through your GP's NHS-powered website, but not through the NHS app. They look the same, and have mostly the same features, including repeat prescriptions, but not one-off prescriptions, for which (website only) you select the option "Repeat Prescription".🤬🤯
jameswildman.bsky.social
Oh god, same. And once I have taken it, I then won't remember if I actually did it or not afterwards.

I have some systems. They kinda work. Mostly.

For the meds that literally help you breathe? You'd think they'd make that easier. Sorry, man.
