2024 will go down as a new record for Earth's warmest year since instrumental measurements began, breaking the record just set in 2023.

In @berkeleyearth.org's analysis, the annual average will also be more than 1.5 °C (2.7 °F) above the 1850-1900 average.

During today's plenary with a panel of science journalists at #AGU24, the facilitator, who is the senior climate reporter at Axios, asked the audience to raise their hands if they are feeling anxious. Hands shot up verywhere. Clearly, there was a consensus.
