Best news in days: an impressive Tibetan reading room opened within UVA's newly renovated Edgar Shannon Library. Worthy of a name like བཤད་སྒྲུབ་ནོར་བུ་དགའ་ཚལ or ངེས་དོན་དགའ་བའི་ཚལ
thrilled that we have a new Tibetan reading room in the University of Virginia Library :

March 14, 2025 is a major Buddhist holiday known as the Display of Miracles (ཆོ་འཕྲུལ་དུས་ཆེན Chotrul Düchen). BDRC is celebrating with the publication of a collection that is something of a modern day miracle: prints of a new set of woodblocks of the Nyingma Gyubum recently carved in Derge, Tibet.

I think LOTS more freezes are forthcoming in the next few days, including from institutions with enormous endowments that haven’t been announced yet. The slow-moving higher ed crisis is now a landslide. Hard to envision a recovery of the U.S.’s university system…
I was shocked to know that Harvard froze a Japanese collection librarian post at the Yenching Library due to the Federal budget cut☹️

The Church Fixer www.nytimes.com/2025/01/04/b... Many Buddhist congregations and nonprofits need a bodhisattva like her.
The Church Fixer
