Two very interesting calls to BBC Radio 4's Any Answers? programme from mothers of now 38-39 year old children who were diagnosed with either autism or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in the 1980s in the context of this week's news.

A rare article which stops you in your tracks and makes every hair stand to attention.
“Charles Norman Shay, who as a 19-year-old medic on D-Day repeatedly saved soldiers from drowning off Omaha Beach, turning them on their backs, dragging them ashore and binding their wounds, died on Wednesday at his home in Thue et Mue, France, near the site of the Normandy invasion. He was 101.”

Followers, enjoy me dunking on The Economist thusly.

I've seen/heard others make similar complaints about the BBC's news output.
As I haven't got a TV Licence I only consume the BBC's output online and via radio.
And I'd say the World Service and "From Our Own Correspondent" do at least cover the "Global South" in sufficient depth.

@felicityhannah.bsky.social I just read this article on money laundering in The Economist and I wondered if anyone involved in Money Box has read it, if not, it is quite fascinating:

Although I am no longer on Reddit, today I decided to browse the famously liberal UKPolitics subreddit to see what users thought of the Home Secretary's new proposal.
I was shocked.
Either I have drifted leftwards, or the sub has taken a rightward turn, but the support was overwhelming in favour.

Of all the commentary about the BBC I've seen in the past 24 hours, I haven't seen anyone refer to "Our BBC, Our Future", a survey conducted this year whose results were published relatively recently.

How unusual is it to not have a TV?
I expect that it will be less unusual for the younger adults living in shared accommodation, and more so as you approach millennial age.

Saddened to discover that this artist, too, is entirely AI-generated.

From the album art, I suspected this was AI, and the description of the song supports my suspicion...

I listen to a radio show on Apple Music called Southern Craft Radio and this week one song verse in particular really surprised me, but on further investigation I appear to have got the complete opposite message of the song.
