At my interview for Baby Gap in college, I was asked who my fashion icon is--crazy, amirite? I said Thomas Jefferson, thinking I am *hilarious*. Manager, straight-faced, "sophisticated yet accessible?"

That's when I realized I'd never be as hilarious as the Baby Gap manager at the Coral Ridge Mall.

The name "Popular Science" doesn't mean we shift our coverage depending on public opinion. It means we cover relevant subjects that are rigorously researched, reliable, and grounded in reality.

And trans lives are grounded in reality.

We see y'all. No matter what.

First-of-a-kind study shows encouraging data for trans kids who socially transition
Ninety-four percent of participants in a new study stood firm in their trans identity after five years, and "detransitioning" is rare.

The Minority Teachers of Illinois Scholarship Program is one of many ways Illinois works to diversify the teacher pipeline. I hope legal efforts like this fail, but the mere existence of lawsuits like this are discouraging enough. I know that's the point; sometimes it's just performative. #edusky

Can't begin to fully explain how much joy this has brought my family already. It's free! It's 24/7! It runs thru Dec 18. My 8yr old's fave requests have been Dominick the Donkey & Little Drummer Boy (Justin Bieber Version). They take calls from all over the world!

I don't disagree w/ anybody in this thread, but I'd add caution that all of these well intentioned efforts (moving away from College Board's iron grips) still inevitably leave large swaths of students--particularly those for whom college & university paths may not be best--underserved. #edusky
I just finished a major reform to get my school to offer courses that have a "GPA Boost" and special label like the AP courses but are free from the College Board label and ed-tech - like Political Theory & Philosophy, etc - and I agree that it is a very weird, limited sort of victory.

It's a wild trip watching students process New Jersey v. T.L.O and see their 4th Amendment rights in schools slip away as the decision sets in.
