There's some really solid baseball theory (that goes against conventional wisdom) that suggests your #3 hitter shouldn't be one of your best hitters. Your #2 hitter should be your best.

The Card's lineup construction seems to reflect that approach.
Opening day lineup is as advertised:

Nootbaar 7
Contreras 3
Donovan 4
Arenado 5
Burleson DH
Herrera 2
Walker 9
Scott II 8
Winn 6

Gray 1

This week on Sacred and Small, we focus on the church’s posture toward and increasingly post-Christendom world.
S1 E8: The Church and the Community

This is the kind of thing I've been doing over at Sacred & Small since leaving Viva El Birdos.

It's not baseball. But it's still statistical analysis! Maybe I need to develop some verison of xwOBACON for church revitalization?

You can follow along at sacredandsmall.substack.com.
Small Church Survey Series: The Small Church is Small & That's Normal
Most of the small churches in USA & Canada are smaller than the accepted average. That's not a problem. It's normal.

Ok, I am here. I will warn you that if I stick around, this will not be all Cardinals stuff.

I apologize in advance for my pastoral leadership content, but that’s what I really do. Writing for VEB was just kicks & grins.

Expect mostly Cards content and other stuff you Cards fans can ignore.
