DJT may want us to forget J/6- but we will never forget. This photograph is one that stayed with many of us- gouging the eyes of a Capitol Police officer - #3855. That attacker is a former police officer who was convicted and subsequently pardoned by #47 last year.

Two policemen remember January 6. One was defending the Capitol, the other attacking it. Both were transformed by the experience, and by the photos and video taken that day

On January 6, 2021, violent extremists, encouraged by Donald Trump, stormed the U.S. Capitol in an attempt to overturn a free and fair election. We must never forget what happened that day, and we must never allow it to happen again.

Five years ago today, Donald Trump urged his supporters to attack Congress and the Capitol over a proven lie. More than 140 police officers were injured.

Trump then pardoned the attackers.

He betrayed his oath and his country, and we won't ever forget it.

Congress has ignored the federal law requiring hanging in the Capitol by 3/2023 the plaque promising never to forget the heroism of those who risked all to defend Congress’ members and the Constitution. This essay by the great Jamie Raskin makes good on that promise.
