I like this take - the team was ready to anoint Lando before the season started and it's tough to pivot.
But, I wonder if Norris was to win the championship by, say, just a few points, would the title be considered "fake" by fans because of some of the things McLaren has done?

I'm going to keep agreeing with you - I think as along as Oscar keeps it close, he's going to win the title.
But I don't know how many more moments he can have before he refuses an order, even knowing that he's in a good place. You can tell it's already affecting focus.
