I'm paraphrasing but the paper found that autistic people can be distressed by interpreting objects as "sad" or "forgotten" for various reasons

The very title of the paper then has the capacity to cause distress in autistic people, incl. me

I get the intention but yeah, not ethical at all imo

Masking at conventions makes so much sense I don't know why we don't all do it. The chances of getting get sick at a con are so high we have a cute little name for it: "con crud." That its easy to get COVID at cons should come as no surprise. Why would you not want to protect yourself and others?

A cost-benefit analysis found that for every €1 invested, society receives €1.39 back.

Not to dox myself but I live in a place big enough to be on the London - Newcastle route, so I can go elsewhere if needs be, but the town itself has some things going on every now and then.

Yeah absolutely, I lived in Sunderland center for a minute and that wasn't too bad but it was *definitely* rough. Access to Newcastle made it really worth it, plus on a night it was totally dead.

Also Toon is so fuckin expensive, tried to move there when I came back and it was outrageous.

I moved back up North a few years ago, I found moving to a slightly bigger town helped. I used to live in Lincoln, and I miss it a lot, but right now I'm doing okay here.

I agree, it's tragic we have to compromise and can't just live where suits us, and how London has left the North to rot
