At the beginning

Before the auroras

Completely filled the sky

They were accompanied

By a very strong proton storm

Producing bright proton auroras

Like the green one on the left

Check out the high-energy precipitation on this pulsating aurora right now in Porjus, Sweden! The pink lower border on the aurora you see is indicative of electrons penetrating deep into the atmosphere.

The most powerful storm I have personally ever witnessed.

This beast near Etowah, OK produced two separate sets of twin tornadoes, followed by an EF3 tornado, and then a 1.25 mile-wide tornado that hit Shawnee, OK... all in the span of one hour. #photography #ArtAdventCalendar

Heads up! The CIR has arrived, and current solar wind condituons are favorable for mid-latitude aurora. Since the Sun is rising in the U.S., next up will be New Zealand and Tasmania. Keep an eye on webcams and track substorms to catch the best views.

Look to the Milky Way, in Sagittarius, and you'll find the Lagoon and Trifid Nebulae. In this region, there are hundreds of millions of stars per square degree. My photo is littered with many of them.🤩

I finally got around to splitting the video and creating a composite image of the space station pass. (The ISS showed in about 12 of the 2600 frames caught in the video.)

I am a story.
No matter what has happened to me this year.
Every day I open my phone and scroll through my pictures I get overwhelmed with the emotion of my life in my camera roll.
No regrets. For anything.
Even if it’s going another direction.

I'm going through my back-catalog of aurora pics for my upcoming side quest website, and still in awe of some of the light shows we've gotten over the past two years during this solar maximum cycle.

This was from mid April in Iceland this year. #northernlights

BOOM! X-CLASS FLARE HAPPENING NOW from an un-numbered active region (AR) on the Sun's northeastern limb. This is ex-AR 4274 which gave us the G4 storm earlier in November. Apparently, it still has some juice left for more fireworks.

I will no longer vomit in the toilet or trashcan.

Nay, I will vomit outside in some mud and hope it gets buried quickly so that it may one day be fossilized so people of the future can puzzle over why I ate so many Oreos.

Here is the current Sun. We have major flare players on the southeastern limb and a new AR cresing over the northeastern limb soon.

The most reliable source of enhanced auroral activity is the transequatorial coronal hole which should start affecting us in 4-5 days.
