7 full days to prepare for a game makes a difference, we travelled to Italy and back this week which was our 4th away game in 10 days. That was our 7th game in January compared to United's 5th.

Just got to keep our noses in front until the end of April and it's ours.

Not good enough from Arsenal, but 3 goals from 3 shots on target and only 0.73xG. Not quite a smash'n'grab but it's not far off.

About to face 40 minutes of the dirtiest low block time-wasting football you've ever seen.

In #MathsToday we made a start on Numerical Methods with Y2 #ALevelMaths. Quick whistle-stop tour of the change of sign method before lightly introducing iteration. Retrieval Quiz day too, including Geometric Sequences, Product/Chain Rule and Integration by Substitution this week.

First half notes: We can't leave Zubimendi on an island, especially without Gabriel on the pitch. Merino and Eze playing like dual 10's, distance between front 5 and back 5 means if we turn it over, we're too open.

Feels like Saka and a few others are playing at about 70% intensity.

In #MathsToday my #ALevelMaths students were forming and solving differential equations involving connected rates of change. Lovely to throw some big 11 and 12 mark questions at them. #GCSEMaths focused on Proportion and using ratio tables.

Busy day, busy week, loads done, loads still to do!

Focused on finding particular solutions to differential equations in #MathsToday including those with partial fractions. #ALevelMaths

"I know it sounds crazy, but we're close to something very good" - Thomas Frank

He knows that the Emirates is only 4 miles away, must be what he's referencing.

Sean Dyche just tried to make a dig about "feigning injury". Is he referring to their player going down holding his face after being caught on the chest by a stray arm?

So what's the justification for not giving the Aina handball? He knew it was a penalty, could tell by his reaction when he realised it hadn't been given.

In #MathsToday, no #ALevelMaths on a Friday, just my two GCSE resit classes. One did ratio and the other focused on tree diagrams. Also delivered some professional development to HODs on High Leverage Mentoring Strategies based on @hugheshaili.bsky.social's one pager by @xpateducator.bsky.social

Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink: "Arsenal didn't really create any clear cut chances"
Expected Goals

Chelsea 0.64
Arsenal 2.75

Should be out of sight really.

Shocked to see Enzo Fernandez throwing a tantrum at full time, he normally exhibits such excellent behaviour.

Turns out a lot of people don't understand the offside rule, he's clearly beyond the second to last player (Nick Pope) so he's offside. Seems crazy that paid commentators and pundits don't know this!

In #MathsToday my #ALevelMaths students tackled a cyclic integration by parts question before diving into some Parametric Integration. Really impressed by how hard these students are working and how they are just relentlessly attacking difficult problems. Culture is 🔑

In #MathsToday my Y2 #ALevelMaths students tackled Integration by Parts, including 'parts twice' and definite integrals. Both classes worked collaboratively on big whiteboards around the room as part of the lesson and also attempted a task on @drfrostmaths.bsky.social

Looks like we might just have to do the quadruple then 🤷‍♂️
January 11, 2026 at 3:55 PM
In #MathsToday we introduced Integration by Parts, got to grips with some more straight-forward examples, discussed common errors and speculated on how things can be made more difficult.

I have some naturally inquisitive students who ask great questions.

#MathsToday was all about integrating partial fractions and challenging students to try the most difficult questions. "You don't rise to the level of your expectations, you fall to the level of your preparation" was the message.
