Next fall's grad seminar will fall under "Narrative Theory" (we haven't taught it in forever; if we don't, we lose the number). Two wolves: an idiomatic triad of choice, control, and violence or a Back to the Roots of cultural expressionism: Leo Marx, Kracauer (Nietzsche!), Moten, etc. Thoughts?

Would love newspapers to return to the spiteful days of years gone by. A whole daily section on Bezos's Bozos. Pix that them look horrible. The Ghost of Robin Givhan ridiculing their stupid suits. The maniacal alt-weekly metro reporters who camped out a council meetings and had all the dirt.

Often enough, pop song writers come up with one fantastic riff or one fantastic line and not much else. What Lolas "Trick Myself" proposes is that you should just repeat it over and over and then stop.
