Tragic and so true
A helicopter crashed onto the freeway in Sacramento last night; 3 people were critically injured. Wall-to-wall news coverage as two federal agencies investigate what went wrong and prepare to correct any systemic problems. A real contrast with fatal car crashes, which are accepted as routine.

For 15 years Caltrans has known that widening SR 37 at sea level is foolish and yet their $500M project marches forward.

More fearlessness today from @jeanieww.bsky.social in @sfchronicle.com, writing about the well debunked myth that adding new highway lanes in the hope of reducing traffic only encourages more drivers to use the road… resulting in higher levels of congestion. Is a California highway project ‘dumping half a billion dollars into the ocean’?
Will the state spend $500 million on Highway 37, which is expected to be underwater by mid-century?
