It doesn’t seem too complicated - Trump got personal favors and gifts from the Qatari royal family, and a Qatari airbase on U.S. soil was the quid pro quo. One more thing, coincidental or not, is that this is just one more outrage that’s keeping #TrumpEpstein out of the news.

Trump is in a lose-lose situation. Either he keeps the government shut down to avoid release of the Epstein files, and he’ll be blamed for people suffering the consequences, or he allows the Epstein files to be released, in which case his lies will be exposed, and he’ll suffer the consequences.

So, the federal government has been shut down to prevent disclosure of the Epstein files? That would be putting loyalty to Trump over loyalty to the country, which would call into question Mike Johnson’s competence as House Speaker.

My critical thinking says that Trump’s inability to get an NFL franchise back in the days when he was a Democrat had nothing to do with his politics and everything to do with his poor business skills. Btw, most current NFL owners are Republicans.

Like most things revolving around major sporting events, it's about ratings, not politics. In sports, politics is bad for ratings because injecting politics risks alienating half of the audience. Bad Bunny being the halftime attraction only became political when Fox News began whining about it.
