Chiesa lights it up as does Ekitike, Gakpo and Wirtz. The insistence on selecting players who are not delivering (VVD,MS,Kerk, Kon, McAll-big part-squad) continues, it calls into question his ability to turn this squad around and build a new legacy. Feel for him but bitten off too much strategically

The positives, they exist in moments, and bad luck compounds slow un cohesive transitional play as does less than optimal coaching decisions as you do you best to adapt to essentially a new team. Some brutal personal decisions needed,but the style, speed and ultra control takes away opportunity

Slot’s post match interview, remarks now unlucky Gakpo was and how close Ekitike came , but his first half overall is way off? The slow turgid build allows a defensive reset, with poorly floated balls to the back post, but he keeps picking those not performing , yet those performing are benched.

I cannot understand why we wait so long to bring on Chiesa, Ekitike, Wirtz and Frimpong who were difficult to control.

I’d also drop McAllister, bring in Jones, Szobo, Wirtz. We did have a v short period post them coming on that we were transitioning quickly with Ekitike-Wirtz-Jones-Chiesa upping the ante and Frimpong getting the ball into the box. So, in conjunction with Gakpo hitting the post, there were chances

I’m a fan of PRESS, fast efficient football that we need to get there, where is the Press from the front or anywhere. I think some players need to be dropped i.e Salah, Konate, Kerkez. Bring in Joe and Robertson, Joe brings stabilty and can push our from the back/ Andy crosses better-fwds cont…

…cont..backpedalling, cumbersome and prone to mistakes. To your point, too deep and not pushing fwd, so the beginning of the attack is slow and restricted and predictable so transitional play to mid/fwds contained. What is Slot’s strategy/style of play, its not clear? So changes are required cont….

Good overview David, I think there are three components relative to the Summer changes (a) Losing Diaz, Nunez and sadly Jota has hurt fr fotballing/emotional pers. (b) Magnitude/type of changes (def-mid fwd)- which ties into the poor transitional play. Then the is defense, unorganized..

I’d agree, he owes the fans an explanation on Chiesa. This transition from a Klopp team, fast, pressing, embracing creativity to a virtual new team with poor performances and injuries. I cannot really figure out his style. The predictable, slow hyper control lacking creativity is where we are now

I’d bench Mo/Isak, why, neither are on form, doesn’t work like he used and he is not taking players on. I do feel sad for him, but he has to make better decisions

IMHO how we are now playing with the choices we are making doesnt support Isak (a) He doesnt wk hard enough off the ball (b) We dont give to him enough and when he does get it, he doesn’t do enough. Ekitike takes players on and Chiesa and Gakpo we stand a chance. Just an opinion

Agree, these players are hungry clearly. Why do I keep having to ask why is Chiesa on the bench. I would maybe have Bradley and Frimpong at the same time, because Frimpong can sub for Mo and he doesnt get back and Bradley needs a skillful player willing to take on defenders above him

Agree. Look at the hook up’s and box delivery when the subs came on, Szobo, Wirtz, Chiesa, Jones, Frimpong. Slots is low risk but low creativity

Mo’s form should keep him on the bench with Isak and Kerkez. When he brought on the subs, thats how we should have started there was immediate hook up Wirtz, Szobo, Ekitike, Jones and Chiesa. Some minor improvements with Kerkez/Konate today.

agree with your review of the way we now play. I think we underestimate the size of the task, but we changed too much all at once. Alot of scrutiny has been brought on the players, but not enough of the strategy to chance so much and equally how Slot is setting us up, the line ups and style of play

Isak, Kirkez,Salah benched. There were glimmers of hope when we brought on Ekitike, Wirtz, Jones and Frimpong. Our defence is a shambles needs sorting as does our speed of play, our risk free square balling never takes advantage of the space . Bradley and Kirkez can get fwd but the delivery is poor
