“You have to lower your expectations from Biden’s job numbers.”
Peter Navarro: "The jobs report comes out tomorrow. We have to revise our expectations down significantly for what a monthly job number should look like ... Wall Street has to adjust for the fact that we're deporting millions of illegals out of the job market."

Schumer: ball’s in your court

Republicans: stab the ball, tear it apart, set it on fire, rip up the court and sell the turf to Bahrain

Schumer: hey you guys are out of balls

Republicans: we’re gonna kill your families

Schumer: ok we’ll pass funding for new balls but you’ve GOT to read the rules

Yup.
Compared with participants
without GI symptoms, the GI group reported a higher burden
of additional long COVID symptoms, including palpitations, headache, and
arthralgia.

Spouse just suggested showing up empty-handed at my uncle's house after the sudden death of his wife/my aunt.

I would be haunted by the ghosts of both grandmothers, my mom, and my MIL if I didn't at least pull a pan of brownies together, damn. 😒

Juxtaposition: a man mourning his sister's sudden death immediately books a trip home to a deep blue state. He packs his TPUSA hat.

It's not his only hat.

It's < freezing here and no time for ballcaps.

He is 1 of 3-4 conservatives in our large family, but the only one who visits often.

No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition.

Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
Gladys Mae West obituary: mathematician who pioneered GPS technology
She made key contributions to US cold-war science despite facing huge barriers as a Black woman.

Car repair, IEP meeting, and a death in the family that struck like lightning.

Today is a goddamned whopper.

As always, fuck cancer.

If Jeff Bezos could afford to spend $75 million on the Melania movie & $500 million for a yacht to sail off to his $55 million wedding to give his wife a $5 million ring, please don't tell me he needed to fire one-third of the Washington Post staff.

Democracy dies in oligarchy.

One side effect of having a chronic illness and a research background is having an even lower tolerance for a thoughts-and-prayers approach to a family member's prognosis.

I hope I'm wrong.

(I get my pragmatism from my mom's side of the family, which grew up less churchy.)

"Do yoga!" has never worked for me. My central nervous system has conflicting needs, and erging is as natural as breathing.

Praying to the PEM gods that a carefully managed 2k/day will keep me within my body's current acceptable parameters.

In the midst of it all, I consolidated and organized my yarn stash, needles, and random knitting tools today.

It's not much, but it's not nothin.

And I did not lose my cable needle after all!

Today, we celebrated the life of one of the matriarchs under whose wing I was fortunate enough to find shelter as a child. It's my second funeral in two months, but both fall squarely under the heading of A Good Long Life.

Of the stories told today, one will stay with me forever.
