Our new paper is now out in SS&M! In a sample of US youth attempting weight loss, we found that those motivated to lose weight because of teasing engaged in riskier weight loss strategies and had higher BP and CRP compared to those citing other motivations authors.elsevier.com/a/1ltOu-CmV5...

So exciting to see RQ1 featured our work!
Bottom line: humor in news is a powerful tool for conveying facts—especially at a time when satirical news, an alternative venue for those who don't trust mainstream media, is under unprecedented political attack

Fascinating study on Last Week Tonight and whether jokes help "embed" facts, as seen on the always interesting RQ1 newsletter rq1.substack.com/p/why-right-...

New paper out! This was a fun collaboration with Dr. Trent Holliday, Libby Cowgill, and Scott Maddux to work up a broad review on Neanderthal cold adaptations ranging from technological to physiological. This is a good one for teaching.

We referred to our collaboration as the "Coldies but Goodies"
Neandertal Cold Adaptation: Technological, Anatomical, and Physiological Responses to Cold Stress in One of Our Closest Fossil Relatives
Neandertals occupied western Eurasia for over 100 000 years, repeatedly enduring climates that ranged from seasonally cold to glacial. This paper reexamines the question of Neandertal cold adaptation...

Went to downtown DC to watch them remove the Black Lives Matter mural and wrote about how the removal of such symbols reflects government policy priorities. How the removal of the BLM mural reflects the administration’s desire to remove Black people and history from large segments of American life.

Worth noting that it appears you can still order free tests, if you have not already done so with the autumn 2024 renewal of the program. At least, the website is still there, so people should take advantage while they still can!

hello cis friends
this is what people mean by trans genocide

if a type of person does not officially exist, then any harm against them cannot be measured or reported

this headline change isn't even being caused by an executive order

it's simply the NYT editors deciding we don't deserve to exist

"In an era where fundamental reproductive rights for women in the United States are under constant threat, weight-centered gynecological care will only further reduce the already limited options...we should certainly ensure that all health care, at its core, is inclusive of all bodies."

1. Today at the Supreme Court, Amy Coney Barrett emerged as a potential wild card, with at least one attorney in other LGBTQ+ cases expressing her questioning was curious.

In particular, she seemed surprised to learn about the history of anti-crossdressing laws.
