What a gorgeous film. The cinematography. The sound design. The use of light! 👑 Rian Johnson 👑

And Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc continues to be delightful. Give me at least ten more of these tbh.

Manousos' drive was such a beautiful sequence. And as soon as he reached the Darién Gap, I saw this as an immigration story; this is the same treacherous path migrants from South America have to take in order to reach the U.S. And at the end, of course, we cut to Carol

and see that the U.S. is not all it's cracked up to be; the "patriotic" imagery, with the fireworks, and all the red white and blue, and Carol's straight up suicidal. By the time Manousos finally makes it to the U.S., she might be a very different Carol than the one he saw in the video.

#Pluribus has so many layers, and to me, one of them, since episode 2, has been highlighting The Gap (the title of episode 7 doesn't only reference the Darién!) between the Global South and North, with Carol as the one wealthy white American. Even though I'm on her side (in the words of Manousos, "I

wish to save the world"), I could also see Koumba's point of view when he explained that there's now world peace, no crime, no poverty (very likely he grew up poor, which puts it into perspective); he had something to gain in the new world, while Carol essentially lost everything (Helen).

(And, of course, other important factors include: the other survivors have loved ones in the hivemind; Carol has trauma from being sent to conversion therapy.) I can understand everyone's different motivations.

tl;dr I'm so glad this show takes its time and lets all these things breathe!

This is where I've been taking my weekly Beginning Wheelthrowing class for the past year! Love that this article highlights the community aspect because I've been saying since Day 1 that it's my favorite thing about Lillstreet Art Center!

The former gear factory at the corner of Ravenswood and Montrose avenues offers a staggering array of art classes and, on top of that, an intergenerational sense of community.

Insane story

The CIA once hauled a plutonium-powered "portable nuclear device” up a Himalayan peak to spy on China—then a blizzard hit and they left it behind.

It’s likely still buried in a glacier feeding the Ganges—a river system that supports ~600 million people. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

A plutonium-packed generator disappeared on one of the world’s highest mountains in a covert mission that the U.S. will not talk about.
