How can this photo not make you smile?
It fell out of a book on Monday when I was arranging the wall of books at my exhibition. So it must have been travelling around the country - on show but unseen - for 7 years now!
But who are you, little fella?
I hope you’re still smiling

We don't need new routes to qualification for early years staff we need funding at a level where pay means more people are interested in working in the early years long term. You can't train up people who don't exist. Shame the DfE still isn't on here or I would tag them. #EYFS #EarlyYearsSky
Marble runs are phenomenal. The language. The critical thinking. The collaboration. The dexterity.
And just sometimes intergenerational. So many happy
Memories, some including building with my grandad and my aunt. 💜.

As a total, absolute & proud LHer I’m concerned at ‘Teach handwriting in a bespoke way’, no, just show both ways, there isn’t a ‘bespoke’ way. Separating LHer’s out identifies us as a different group & others us.
Also crucially look at how you set up resources. don’t always place items on right.

After my son came home from nursery with sand in his scalp I put this guide together and then put it on my Instagram and Facebook page over the weekend. It is linked to my 4E’s & resonated with a lot of parents of children with Afro hair textures. Early Years Educators you may find this useful 😊

‘When a child is already in care and is being failed by their corporate parents, anyone raising the alarm has to raise the alarm with the corporate parent. A failing corporate parent marks its own homework. There is no independent regulator of Local Authorities’ Children’s Services’ RIP Tash 💔
Must-read blog into the life and death of care experienced Tash Ashby at the age of 21, At the time of her death, she was homeless, living in the undergrowth around Hereford bus station. Her lifeless body was found in her tent. By Luke Clements.

Has anyone used the new DfE benchmarking tool? I don’t know why they are using one set of schools to compare running costs incl staffing and another for building costs, how is that a true comparison? It might be me but any thoughts welcome. #sbm sbl# #education

A huge hug and a big mug of hot chocolate to all those heads who had difficult decisions to make today about opening, delaying opening, not opening... There's so many factors to take into account and you can never please everyone. Thank you for working to keep everyone safe.

Happy Christmas Eve Eve everyone. We’re watching one of our favourite Christmas films. Quality sequal too! #YippeeKiYay
And as it is Christmas Eve Eve I have clearly lost the ability to write coherently! I am impressed. Both are impressive! 🤦🏽‍♀️🤣
Well he is an impressive cook! I’m hungry again just looking at it 😋

Word of the day (of course) is ‘scurryfunging’, from US dialect: the frantic attempt to tidy the house just before guests arrive.
