EU politicians basically decided “fuck people” today, and preservation of inhabitable conditions on Earth is not a priority. It’s okay, just let it sink in for a second.

Still kinda feel like the Affinity team made a deal with the devil, though. They’re using Canva’s resources to get Affinity into more hands, but it’s also Canva’s Trojan horse now. Smart move for both of them, but I remain skeptical long term. Liked Serif a lot better as an independent company.

Reading from people that Affinity being free now made them cancel their Adobe subscription, and I don’t get it. Affinity was about $70 with major paid updates every couple of years and free feature updates in between. So still a lot cheaper than an Adobe subscription. What am I missing here?

OpenAI going public calls for a new FAANG. With the Bundy family reunion coming this January, I suggest NO MA’AM: NVIDIA, OpenAI, Microsoft, Apple, Alphabet, Meta.

“A House of Dynamite” on Netflix. Go watch it right now.

Market psychology is wild. NVIDIA jumps and I feel invincible, despite volatility and market dynamics. And yeah, the AI bubble is bound to burst eventually. NVIDIA might be one of the few actually selling real products and turning a profit from the hype, but it still hinges on that hype continuing.

Just an example of why AI coding still sucks and why claims like “AI writes 75% of our production code” are either bullshit or don’t actually reflect all that well on your business. 🧵👇

Since JetBrains seems to have given up on Fleet and Zed never really clicked with me, I’m back on PHPStorm for now.

Everyone claiming AI can actually replace jobs right now is either lying or full of shit.
October 21, 2025 at 11:20 AM
Today’s AI coding experience: Zed’s AI assistant just assumed it’s running in PHPStorm. No punchline. 🤷‍♂️

Not sure how, but Figma buying Payload CMS completely flew under my radar. I actually wanted to try it a while ago but passed after it pulled in like 500 MB of npm packages just for the initial setup.

Biggest surprise for me with the new Sora was Cameos. Not that people really enjoy it, I totally get that. Been doing stuff like this with other models and some extra work for over a year now. But how they made it easy and readily available for the masses. Makes Sora succeed where Meta Vibes fails.

Ugh, I hate politics in Germany so much. Now they’re discussing bringing back the doctor’s visit fee again. Because that worked so well last time. So much for “cutting bureaucracy.” Just plain stupid. 🤬

If you always wanted to do porn but without possibly negative consequences, now might be the best time. The web is gonna be flooded with even more and better deepfakes soon, and most people can already no longer distinguish between what’s real and what’s not.
October 2, 2025 at 12:15 PM
From what I’ve seen so far, deepfaking yourself (and your friends) is gonna be really easy with the new Sora app. It learns your likeness from a short recording that’s also meant to serve as proof that you’re actually the person being deepfaked.

So, does government shutdown also mean we don’t have to watch Trump’s shitshow for a while?
October 2, 2025 at 11:22 AM
I don’t think LLMs really know how to optimize themselves. I’ve asked GPT-5 to rewrite and refine prompts for itself several times, but the results were always worse and further from what I intended. Has anyone else had the same experience?

So Trump’s big plan is basically that Hamas should surrender, which they didn’t agree to so far, or otherwise the war will continue. Did I get this right? 🤔

I’ve retreated to Designated Survivor on Netflix as my comfort show these days. There’s something oddly soothing about watching a competent and uncorrupted US president, even if it’s all fiction.
September 28, 2025 at 10:43 PM
The problem is not ABC or Disney. The problem is the corrupt government, the hijacking of all democratic institutions, and the undermining of all checks and balances. The entire system is failing in plain sight.

So the new iPhones have this N1 chip with Bluetooth 6, but the new AirPods Pro 3 are still on Bluetooth 5.3. Why would Apple launch both at the same time and not match them up? Am I missing something?

I'm creating a Meta ad for a client, and apparently now it automatically offers to use AI images it creates for your ads based on what you wrote.

As a marketer, I personally felt that showing people images of three-armed babies whose hands are melting together might not be the best idea.

Charlie Kirk being gunned down reminds me a lot of when anti-vaxxers died of COVID a couple of years ago. You don’t really wish it on anyone, but the irony kind of speaks for itself.
