New piece.

The data presented by @thejcpa.bsky.social and @counterhate.com about antisemitism on X is stark: it is being spread to hundreds of millions of people.

Not just antisemitism, but OVERT antisemitism. And that shift means far more than people realize. It won't be long before it leaves X.
Overt Anti-Jewish Hate is On the Verge of Going Mainstream
The combination of mainstreamed conspiracy theories and overt hate on X is close to transforming America's relationship with Jews.

Part of the issue is that those most actively protesting and leading mutual aid are women and gender non-conforming people. Both groups are illegible to many as protesters. This helps explain the invisibilization of current protests and resistance.

Don’t think I’ll recover from that photo of the child detained by ICE. What’s sad is this is likely only the beginning.

It's important that we truly contend with the concentration camp reality in America. Every single word here is backed up with facts and historical analysis.

As always: something sounding extreme doesn't mean it isn't real.

Hearing confirmed reports from people on the ground of ICE sightings in Portland, Maine today. If you see/know anything, message me on Signal at marisakabas.04
ICE is coming to Portland and Lewiston imminently, their mayors confirmed today. Both cities have large Somali populations.

When reached for comment, ICE wouldn’t even confirm whether or not this action was happening.

Progressives HAVE been weighing in.

-universal health care
-streamlining immigration processes
-universal basic income
-more funding for childcare

But no one wanted to listen.

I said it a couple of days ago but a really under-discussed dynamic that unfolded during the primary was that Mamdani found himself capable of consolidating the field and presenting himself as the credible alternative to Cuomo because he was the earliest person on both 1) Gaza and 2) Immigration.
Yeah that’s the only difference for sure

"America may be becoming more racially diverse, but this doesn’t necessarily portend a politics of racial liberalism.

Instead, he argues that those with multiracial backgrounds will tend to identify – and be identified – with the largest and most socially dominant racial group."

Fascinating piece.

In all seriousness this is why so many narcissists are so popular on social media. Not everyone can take the heat of virality, but if all you care about is attention the incentives are reversed.

One of the many subtle ways tech is built that erode social fabric. It doesn’t have to be this way.
who the fuck WANTS their posts to go viral, have you ever had that actually happen? it's like getting a winning pull on a slot machine if wasps started pouring out the bottom instead of quarters

New — I wrote about ChongLy Scott Thao, the elderly Hmong American wrongly arrested and forced out of his home by ICE in his underwear during the punishing Minnesota winter, what witnesses saw, and DHS's racist claim that he fit the description of another Asian man they were looking for.

My story:
Behind the disturbing image of ICE snatching a half-naked, elderly Hmong American from his home
DHS has claimed without evidence that they were looking for someone else when they took ChongLy Scott Thao.

Essential, by @shaneburley.bsky.social on Carlson hosting another white nationalist.

Fuentes was really only one of may antisemites invited on the show.

Unfortunately, Carlson has done a good job of making it seem he’s more moderate than he is. But his views aren’t much different than Fuentes’s.

He doesn't name the company. Advantage Gold has sponsored Levin—and other prominent rightwing commentators—in the past.

MLK is the reason I went from liberal to progressive. He transformed the way I look at America, race, religion, and much more.

He was a prophet. One who is still guiding us if we only listen to his actual words.

He saw every bit of this coming. He told us to be urgent. We need to live that out.

It’s really upsetting to see people repeating the same talking points that got us here.

The only way out of this is not just abolishing ICE but a transformation of our democracy. One that is durable and actually democratic.

All we keep doing is slowing down fascism. And sometimes speeding it up.
To this point, it’s crazy to me that the “abolish ICE” position is seen as some debatable policy measure rather than a prerequisite for building structural guardrails against authoritarianism.
This isn't a left-right ideological issue. But it blows me away that anyone who is actually anti-Trump would think running back Joe Biden/Merrick Garland 2.0 will work the second time. No political party can tolerate a very large, armed secret police force committed to murdering its voters.

Incredibly powerful and insightful commentary on how Democratic leaders helped lead us to this moment. From someone who saw it from the inside.
I worked in a Democratic presidential administration and, even then, DHS was very often the most problematic, obstinate part of negotiating a civil/human rights provision into executive branch policy.

I have been thinking about this a lot in recent weeks and want to offer a short 🧵with reflections:

3rd death at this facility. 2nd this month. They claim suicide. This is state sponsored murder.

Imagine what is happening in these camps for this to be the case.
Rest in peace Victor Manuel Diaz. He was a Latino immigrant kidnapped by ICE in Minneapolis. He died in ICE custody at Camp East Montana, Texas while facing deportation.

Exact same playbook as the reaction to BLM. Same wording and conspiracy theories.

Except this time it looks like fewer people are buying it. Hopefully Dems don’t legitimize it.

Every time the Trump regime uses the words "funded protesters" and "outside agitators" news outlets need to cut to this photo from last week.

ICE has invaded these communities. Outside agitators don't show up in their fucking bathrobes.
