Last week, Mayor Frey continued his record of vetos that help only his donors. This is his 15th veto of Council actions, which is more than the previous two mayors combined. Minneapolis deserves better than bending to corporations at the cost of our local, BIPOC small businesses.

Brian Strahan supporters are making the case on the I Love NE FB group (the bad one) to vote for Brian because he’s liked by republicans. When the person initially making this point tried to then distance it from saying Trump supporters like him, the Trump supporting moderator confirmed it.
Jill Davis: “Conor Hesch Sounds like you like Brian. But the fact remains, he has not lived in Ward 1 until the last month. He has not been upfront about his residency. Quite honestly, I don't find it a bonus point to have Republicans supporting your candidate.”

Anonymous member 619: “Conor Hesch Wow the Trump voters like him? He's perfect for our city council then?”

Conor Hesch: “Anonymous member 619 | doubt Trump-fans like Brian but I know some moderate republicans who do.”

Katrina Johnson Moderator: “Conor Hesch This Trump fan likes him.”

That is why we need to invest in places like this, expand our shelter capacity and lead with a housing first approach. We know that everyone is worthy of dignity, love, respect, and housing.

One of the biggest issues facing our city is the lack of shelter availability. On October 5th there were 0 shelter beds available at night, on October 6th there was 1 shelter bed available at night, and on October 7th there were 0 shelter beds available at night. 3/

This site will have 50 apartments and a 54-bed shelter meant to help address unsheltered homelessness. I am proud that we as the City of Minneapolis contributed to the development of this project. 2/

We won our court case because renters should always be included in the democratic stewardship of our parks!

We won!

Following three weeks of legal proceedings and over five hours in court, the judge found Wayzata-based Minneapolis landlord John Wall in violation of the law on three counts, resulting in a $1,450 fine.

Apply this language to higher levels of government in this country and see how it sounds: "the executive is having his allies push to change the constitution so that he can hire whoever he wants to lead vital executive departments, with no confirmation vote from the legislative branch."

POWER GRAB: 6-5 majority of commissioners on this work group say council shouldn't get a confirmation vote for mayor's picks for directors of public works, community planning/economic development, civil rights, health, emergency management, regulatory services, assessor.

It’s hard to overstate how incredible @jchavezmpls.bsky.social was at the Ward 9 forum on Monday night. Besides being a gifted public speaker, he demonstrated over and over that he views unhoused people and people who use drugs as fully human and fully worthy of housing and health and life.

It is with great joy to have the support of State Representative Samantha Sencer-Mura! I am excited to collaborate and to build together for our youth and families.
A graphic of Rep. Sencer-Mura endorsing Kay
"Kay will bring much needed energy and vision to the park board. I'm excited by her background in youth work and her passion for bringing youth voice to the table.
With her leadership, we can work together to make sure kids and families feel welcome and cared for by our parks system."

I join the calls from the community for further investigation into these cases. Hate crimes, violence, and attacks have no place in Minneapolis. 2/

Frey’s proposed 2026 budget defunds them, but emergency housing vouchers are funded in the 2025 budget; MPHA implemented the operational needs to get vouchers out in Q3 for resident use. It’s now Q4 & sitting in CPED. 100 vouchers could be in use right now: 50 for single residents, 50 for families.
dbrauer.net
Continues to be striking how, since Frey erected the greenway fence to Lake/Nicollet, the crowd has returned en masse to 2900 block of Blaisdell. Frey bleats “you can’t have encampments by home & businesses“ but that’s exactly where he’s pushed these folks. Meanwhile 50 housing vouchers go unfunded.

The amount of hate and death threats @omarfatehmn.com keeps receiving is disheartening and despicable.

Thank you @elliottpayne.org and @doronclark.bsky.social for showing our neighbors that this hate has no place in Minneapolis.

My brother died of an overdose over 15 years ago. While this wouldn't have helped in his situation, this will save the lives of others. I'm proud of whatever steps we as a city can take to help prevent the pain that my family went through.
