Hi new followers, I’m a journalist following my twin loves of music & cricket. I write regularly for Stereoboard & pen culture deep dives for The New European. Anything involving the #Beatles always sparks my interest but I champion lots of new music too jeremyblackmorewriter.journoportfolio.com 1/2

I gave it another try after a couple of hours and it worked! I'm blaming you for bringing another Beatles related book into the house (😉), but I couldn't pass up the chance to support Denny and get a signed copy.

Couldn’t get PP to work for me, unfortunately. May have been a temporary glitch, I guess. Glad you got yours okay.

Thanks Steven. Fingers crossed it arrives okay. I couldn't get their site to accept payment at all, so back to Amazon, I'm afraid. Probably just as well given the shipping costs...

Thanks Danny! That's reassuring. The checkout on the publisher's site shows the amount in dollars with no shipping costs which I'm a bit confused by.

I did have to pay a UK import charge about 10/15 years ago when I bought a vinyl album from the US, before the Royal Mail could deliver it.

@johnp69.bsky.social @stevenc63.bsky.social @carolannelennie.bsky.social Does anyone know if I’ll have to pay import charges if I order a book from the US please? It’s a signed copy of Denny Seiwell's autobiography & I’d rather support him via his publisher rather than go through Amazon UK. Thanks!

Thanks Carys. It’s a musician’s autobiography. There aren’t any shipping charges or taxes showing on the publisher’s site when I enter my address, but I guess the UK Post Office/Customs could apply import charges. That happened when I ordered an album from the US around 10/15 years ago.

Just joined Jenn Wasner's Bandcamp listening party for the new Flock of Dimes album 'The Life You Save'. Truly heartbreaking, fragile and painfully honest with the most gorgeous melodies & performances to match. Already my album of the year.

I bought Press To Play and all its singles on release! Fully deserves a boxset treatment, especially with some strong b-sides around that time. A remix would be really interesting too. Definitely a much better album than its reputation suggests.

So sorry to hear about your back, Rory. Take care of yourself. Lovely to see how confident Sophie is looking though. Was there a turning point with the bin lorries, a moment when she suddenly wasn't bothered by them any more. Or more a case of gradually becoming desensitised to them?

Saw this one on the Beatles and Cavern Club Photos Facebook page today. Taken (presumably by Linda) during sessions for Long Long Long this day in 1968.
Paul McCartney and George Harrison discuss the recording of Long Long Long. They are watched by producer George Martin. A teacup 🍵 and a pack of Maryland Cookies sits in the foreground.

You got Peter Asher too?! Sounds like an excellent night.

Those 1970s Oldfield albums part soundtracked my childhood. Mum was a huge fan and got each one when it came out. They instantly remind me of her every time I play them.

On a quick look at my best albums of 1980 playlist, I can see that Dexys qualify and will definitely be on my list too.

Great haul, Dieter! Some real gems there.

#NowPlaying New York trio Say She She's brand new album 'Cut and Rewind' which combines old school 1970s disco, funk and soul with punk-chic, lending their music some genuine attitude. Dance floor filler meets protest album. www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...
