Folks, we all like #g_witch. But we all know S2 had its problems: "Kinda weird pacing." "This could use more literature references and violence." "Make it gayer! Gayer!"

If this sounds like you, then check out The Morrigan!

I'm a little mad at how good they are! I don't care for the SD proportions, but they're so well designed I can't help but love em

MGSD Aerial! I was skeptical of the MGSD line, but the hype is well earned. A few kinda annoying parts (the head is surprisingly finicky to build) but otherwise an absolute delight. Great design, articulation, aesthetics, and solid as a brick shithouse. 9.5/10 #gunpla

If the backpack is attached it's really hard to make it stand on its own. Technically possible, but not worth the trouble

I don't dislike it, and the build was certainly INTERESTING, but I'm really not sure what they were cooking here. Also the gun's back half is flush with the forearm which really limits posing options with it. Lots of little decisions piling up in ways that bring the whole down.

Gundam Zirius is one of the weirdest kits I've built. A baffling mix of modern design elements (thorough color separation) with old ones (lots of polycaps). It looks cool, but in kind of a nonsensical way, and it always feels on the verge of breaking. 6/10 #gunpla

Basically it'd be Goopy Eugenic Horrors vs. Naturals and Coordinators, the latter of which are being forced to reckon with the fact that this biodeterministic nightmare was always the end stage of the program that birthed them

For the record, my idea is this:

George Glenn did not die; before returning to Earth, his consciousness had merged/been eaten by the Space Whale. Glenn/Whale then returns to enact a more extreme Destiny Plan, leaning heavily into the Body Horror side of genetic engineering

Congratulations! YOU have just been hired as the creative lead on a new Gundam series! The catch: It must be set in the Cosmic Era, and you cannot alter, disregard, or retcon anything from SEED, Destiny, or Freedom.

What does your CE Gundam series look like?
jerkus.bsky.social
That would go insanely hard
jerkus.bsky.social
I would watch 100 episodes of this, easy

A prestige drama style story is such a big-brained move, I love it

Also relies way too heavily on stickers for the minimal coloration (I used a gold Gundam marker instead). Between this and the Police Zaku the Zeon Gquuuuuux kits are zero for two.

Xaviers Gyan: I wish I liked this kit more than I do, because it looks absolutely phenomenal. But the design is just bad. The torso flies apart with posing, the articulation is abysmal, and the hands can't even grip the lance without falling apart. Such a shame. 6/10 #gunpla

HG Guncannon (Gquuuuuux). The feddie suits continue to mog the Gundams. Very similar to the Gelgoog in terms of build, articulation, and stability but with extra chonk and weapons and the super cool quad-eye head. Wish it had the HGUC Guncannon's flexibility, but otherwise 10/10 #gunpla

Nyaan really knows how to live mas
jerkus.bsky.social
G.Fred aka The Cooler Gquuuuuux. Basically the same kit as the Gquuuuuux with a different color scheme and head options. The head is a little finicky (I broke one of the two included vfins instantly) but I really like the aesthetic better than the Gquuuuuux. 7.5/10 #gunpla
jerkus.bsky.social
It definitely needs some extra love to look right: out of the box the colors are a little too clean and obviously plastic. But just a bit of brown paint (agrax earth shade from citadel) gave it a properly used look

Slow. Slow. Quick. Slow.

30mm Milktooth (with some extra paint and weathering). A beast of a kit with some really cool equipment included. A fun, somewhat complex build that still went by quickly. Articulation isn't the best but that's to be expected for this design 8/10 #gunpla

Uh, the horsegirls took over my brain and i wrote 2000 words on Oguri and Folkqueen

Please enjoy it, even though it is unpolished @jerkus.bsky.social

Also thanks to @bloomfilters.bsky.social @ironiclark.bsky.social for being my sempais in horse analysis

and @that-wannabe-cat.itch.io for support
The part where I say fuck it and ramble about Folkqueen for too long because this is my hyperfixation damnit and I’m choosing the essay structure
Okay I’m back after months because I too am an Uma Musume and I broke my metaphorical leg and got depression for a few months but we’re back we’re racing let’s go
Folkqueen is the apex of Uma Musume’s yuri post-gender world (that I’ve read so far anyways) and I love her.
So for some preliminary info especially if you haven’t read up to chp 130 of the manga (1989’s Japan Cup): Folkqueen is a character based off the irl horse Horlicks, a New Zealand mare who beat Oguri Cap in a close fight and surprise upset for the Japan Cup. A reoccurring rumour about her that I’ve seen in multiple sources (thank you bigger horseposter @IronicLark for helping me out here) is that Oguri was supposedly attracted to her, paying special attention to her at the stables. Maybe I just haven’t dug deep enough into the lore here, but this seems to me like an unfortunate projection of human traits onto these horses due to their genders. Furthermore, as mares weren’t especially common winners of G1 races at the time, the standards of gender dimorphism which are often applied to gender-segregated human sports were likely also applied to horse racing, where males are expected to be larger, stronger, faster, etc. Thus, Horlicks winning the cup was treated as an exceptional event due to the inequality of her gender, which looms over the discourse. On top of that, a major goal of the horse racing industry is to breed successful racehorses together, with an article about Horlicks describing the relationship between the Japan Cup and “the acquisition of elite broodmares from around the world” acting together to boost the Japanese horse racing industry. Though I can’t prove this point fully then, it also seems like a major reason why a mare would even be entered into these races would be to promote it as strong “breeding stock”. I’ve also seen posts lamenting that Oguri was not allowed to breed with Horlicks due to Oguri’s non-pedigree bloodline, thus crafting a little tragic heterosexual star-crossed lovers story between the two. Horlicks is thus marked by her gender as a mare in real world narratives surrounding her, flattening a potentially complex character (heck, even “racing career” if you think that’s too deep for a horse) into a supposed object of Oguri’s desire.
Another major component of Horlicks’ story is the mirror she was given in Japan to keep her calm due to her timid disposition, a fact which is reflected (haha pun) accurately in the manga. However, this is where we see possible interpretations of Horlicks/Folkqueen start to diverge. Without further context, one might think that a mirror of all things is a rather silly object to calm a horse, like “haha dumb horse can’t tell her own reflection apart from another horse”. Indeed her sempai Ellerslie teases her about it in chp 115, asking “Even though you can’t sleep without that giant mirror?” as the panel flips perspective and extends back to reveal the said giant mirror, accompanied by Folkqueen’s embarrassed expression. Folkqueen talking with Ellerslie over the ipad, with the giant mirror on her bed reflecting her back.

Sugai's Gelgoog is really Gelgood. My absolute favorite kit from the Gquuuuuux line so far. Super good articulation, fun and intuitive build, great aesthetics, and very stable (except for the backpack thrusters). A kit worthy of the shows best girl 10/10 #gunpla

Too many to fit on my shelves. I've got em on rotation basically 😅

HG Rebenwolf: I completely forgot I'd preordered this, so it was a nice surprise that showed up the other day. Fantastic kit, basically MG quality except that it has no inner frame. A challenging build with some incredible design and engineering. Sad that it's PBan. 9/10 #gunpla
