Day 10 of #LibFaves25
THE MAGICIAN OF TIGER CASTLE by Louis Sachar
I really hope Sachar continues writing for adults because this cozy fantasy was an absolute delight. I especially loved how he handled magic vs science.

Thank goodness this novella is short because it keeps using the word “chiton” and the narrator has mispronounced it every single time. Like easily fifty times so far and it takes me out of the story every time 🙉

Day 9 of #LibFaves25: SUNRISE ON THE REAPING by Suzanne Collins
Excellent and heartbreaking addition to an already rich world. We need more stories of rebellion in hard times

The news the past few days has been extremely hard.

The winter extremely cold.

The world especially difficult.

But, today each of us has the chance to do one little thing to combat the awful.

It is difficult, but choose joy today. Choose love. Choose kindness.

Be a a small rebellion.

Day 8 of #LibFaves25 and I’ve got a final Star Wars book for you: BAD BATCH: SANCTUARY by Lamar Giles
A perfect addition to TBB that expands on the story from s3 and the Empire in general. Romance, adventure, secrets, clones, and that last chapter? CHILLS especially on the audiobook

Day 7 of #LibFaves25
LAST CHANCE TO SAVE THE WORLD by @bethrevis.bsky.social
This book and the whole trilogy were too short! Fantastic world building, intriguing characters, and so much packed into a novella. Highly highly recommend to sci-fi fans, especially fans of Becky Chambers

Day 6 of #LibFaves25
GET LOST WITH YOU by Sophie Sullivan
From her first book, Sullivan has been a must-buy for me (and I very rarely buy any books!) and this series in particular has become a favorite. I love the Kellers and their whole town and I completely relate to Jilly

I really feel like we should do “best of” lists in January, after the year is done. There are still books/movies/etc to enjoy! There is still content being released! With Nov/Dec lists we face both a recency bias (early year content rarely included) but we also leave out year end content completely

Oh this is a really great idea and generally those are "use it or lose it" so what a great way to use it!
This is your annual reminder that if you are in the US and have FSA funds that you won't use, Menstrual products are covered by FSA funds and can be donated to food pantries and shelters.

Day 5 of #LibFaves25 and we’re back with more Star Wars! THE REIGN OF THE EMPIRE: THE MASK OF FEAR by Alexander Freed
Perfect if your favorite thing of Star Wars is politics (like mine is)

Not sure about the "architects of AI" being the TIME person of the year, but Indie booksellers, librarians, & library workers are def our winners.

They continue to fight book bans and support their communities by creating safe spaces, mutual aid drives, and opportunities for curiosity and escape 🩵

#LibFaves25 Day 4: STAR WARS THE HIGH REPUBLIC: INTO THE LIGHT by Claudia Gray
I read the entirety of SWTHR this year so the new ones are definitely going to show up on this list. This one heavily features Reath and Wookiees, so there’s really no way you could go wrong.

I’ve worked in public libraries for 20 years, today was the first time we’ve had to tell someone they couldn’t bring their chainsaw in the library.

Day 3 #LibFaves25
Related to this book a little too much. Fell in love with both leads and enjoyed the journey

Day 2 #LibFaves25
THE TRIALS OF THE JEDI by Charles Soule
An epic end to Phase 3 of Star Wars: The High Republic. I have way more feelings about this book than I could possibly write at the moment

Day 1 (late) #LibFaves25
BATTLE OF THE BOOKSTORES by Ali Brady
I saw so many books this year with a bookstores fighting theme but this is the one I enjoyed! If I wasn’t a librarian, I think I’d like to work for Ryan in Happy Endings

This technology that people in school administrations and higher education are demanding everyone get behind because it's "the future" and "we just have to accept it," which is, nfn, the language of abuse.
