Some personal news, as they say: effective today, I have been promoted to partner at MoloLamken! I am overwhelmed with gratitude, and cannot wait to build my practice in this new role, focusing on appeals, administrative law, and energy litigation. Let’s do this!

Microsoft Outlook has changed its default to something besides Calibri and I DO NOT LIKE IT. Now facing the unfortunate choice between changing my font to Calibri on purpose (ugh) and accepting that email chains will look weird, or accepting this horrible new font. Help.

I keep seeing year-end retrospectives about how people survived their big law hours this year. I get it. But the real answer is just “suffering.” That’s it. Every hour you work over 2,100 is suffering. “How to get better at suffering” just isn’t as catchy as “tips and tricks for surviving big law!”

Today I had the honor of moderating a panel on the Supreme Court’s energy docket (& related cases) at the Energy Bar Association’s Mid-Year Forum. My first ever moderation gig! It was a joy, and the panelists knocked it out of the park. Saw old friends, made new ones, and learned a lot. A great day.

This was one of the best things clerking for the federal judiciary did for my social media habits. When you go years not being allowed to have public opinions on anything, you stop feeling the peer pressure to post as performance. I can feel deeply, strongly, without adding a scream to the void.
I think one of the worst quirks of online spaces is the idea that if someone doesn't post about something, they don't care about it. It encourages performative posting often makes things worse.

I care a lot. I just don't want to add another poorly-informed voice. I'm reading & thinking.
