We 👀 "search engines like DuckDuckGo adding options to filter out search results suspected of having synthetic content... There’s also a growing mvmt pushing back against new AI data centers... But no matter what form AI slop-refusal takes, it will need to be a group effort." - @tega.bsky.social

I was thinking yesterday that prepping & packing my orders takes longer than making them 😒 Painting/layering the details goes faster than the polishing, popping them into a foam board, gathering the correct attachments, wrapping them up, printing labels & affixing to packages..
The thing they don’t tell you about when you get a mini biz is all the time doing administrative work where you aren’t making or selling.

The problem with ICE is not that it's targeting people who aren't criminals. The problem with ICE is that it's an unaccountable secret deportation police. It cannot be reformed under a better president. It can be made less terrible, but the instrument of repression remains for the next tyrant.

It really is

Our son got his first dose of HPV vaccine when he was 9

Vaccinating boys & men has benefits for BOTH women (e.g., helping to reduce HPV transmission to female sexual partners) AND men (e.g., reducing the risk of oral, head & neck, penile, & anal cancers)

"Your boos mean nothing, I've seen what makes you cheer" but it's weird sex stuff.
The women drawn to RFK Jr. see an intoxicating cocktail of romance and danger—whether it's getting attacked by a yak or texting about taking metaphorical bullets for each other.

But to most others, Kennedy is a reckless conspiracy theorist whose appetite for danger will result in a sicker America.
The inexplicable sex appeal of RFK Jr.
How can such ferocious desire be attached to this man? Two memoirs by the women who love him offer some clues.

these freaks are doing absolutely terrifying stuff on a wholesale basis. probably more horror than anyone will ever really know
ICE deported a woman who owned a home in the US for 30 years. A judge banned ICE from deporting her to Sierra Leone where she had been tortured, so it deported her to Ghana, which kidnapped her and sent her back Sierra Leone anyway. ICE is part of this illegal conspiracy.

The primary type of pie for most of my life. Fruit pies were a secondary type of pie. Both are good. A pie-based diet is achievable and desirable.
What about pies with meat in them

I stood with friends and colleagues today at this rally, listening to speaker after speaker highlight the fear felt by our immigrant neighbors and the urgency of taking action. I share that urgency. 1/2
Immigrant rights advocates called on Beacon Hill Democrats Tuesday to pass a trio of policies they argued would bolster protections for migrants who are being targeted for deportation amid a push by President Trump to increase federal immigration enforcement.

one of the coolest things about ChatGPT is how you can actually just never use it. you can fill your whole entire life with simply not once using it. it's incredible.

Here is a question for my BSky artist friends.

I'd like to store some flat things of varying sizes - pottery templates, stencils, etc. Some of them need to be kept together (multiple pieces for one design), others are annoyingly long shapes. What's a good, ADHD-friendly way to store these?

1. A landmark study was just published in The Journal of Pediatrics.

It found a 68% reduction in suicidality for trans youth getting HRT.

It also found only 7 of more than 400 stopped taking HRT... and of those that did, 4 still identified as gender-diverse.

Transgender care saves lives.
Study In The Journal Of Pediatrics Finds Trans Youth Care Lowers Suicidality, Few Detransition
The groundbreaking study found that suicidality dropped for transgender youth receiving hormone therapy by nearly 70%, with only 7 patients of 432 discontinuing treatment.

For 45 years, I basically was required to ignore what fulfills me, because it was in conflict with standard thinking about productivity, the things fulfilling to me are time consuming, and many require some solitude. I’m finding I have a limited understanding of my own fulfillment as a result.

I’m sure I’m gonna get dragged for this, but I think AI is bad. AI has completely ruined Google search and it’s created a lot more slop that needs to be avoided on the Internet.

You know when you're already stressed and busy and you're trying to do something relatively simple like print a document and suddenly your computer isn't recognizing ANY printers, refuses to open the printer properties, your software can't find any printers, and you think you might fully lose it?

I have had it with the justifications. The weaponization of poverty, neurodiversity, mental illness, all of it.

if you follow me and are using my RTs of authors' books to pirate books (many who are financially struggling, I might add), then frankly fuck off.

Being vulgar isn’t the goal of roasting. EARNING CAMARADERIE IS THE POINT. You display the empathy to accurately asses others’ vulnerabilities, the craft to make fun at them without destroying underlying respect for their humanity, and you earn satisfaction of earning their esteem.

Letting your dog off-leash in an area not designated for it shrinks the world for other people and animals who can't risk unexpectedly meeting a loose dog. My dog is not dog-friendly. WE mind our own business, obey leash laws, and just want to have a nice walk.
"owners tend to downplay the situation, insisting their pet is friendly or disciplined and deserves a chance to roam."

Owners tend to underestimate the former two properties of their dog, but the latter really pisses me off. It's incredibly entitled.

Twitter accounts are based in Russia. BlueSky accounts are based in homes with, frankly, too many books, plants, obsolete cables, and pieces of rustic pottery, that could do with a bit of a tidying up, to be honest.

We played a game of Dread tonight with some friends and I was worried the horror themes might be too much for my 9yo.

Well, they were, but not the themes I expected. What moved him to tears was the survivor we found hiding in the lab, bc "What if he died scared & alone? 😭"

Lumping them together as “AI” gives readers the impression that a single class of tool is discerning novel protein structures, teasing subtle patterns out of mountains of LHC data, writing a student’s History 101 paper, and arguing a ketamine-addled billionaire could post up Shaq in his prime. No.

Elon (a massively insecure international oligarch) and a team of 20-something software developers had full access to all of the federal government’s data and copied it in ways that haven’t been investigated - and then walked away. wtf
